Getting a zl1 soon, what are some must do mods and maintenance items?

I'm going to be getting a zl1 soon, what is some maintenance I should look at doing after I get the car?

Also what are some must do mods? I plan on keeping this car for a long time, probably not going to track it but might do some at some point and might take it to a drag strip, will be doing spirited driving sometimes.

Are there any preventative maintenance items I should look at getting done?

Change your oil and filter at 500 and 1000 miles, or at least one of those mileages. Same for your diff fluid. Consider saving your stock tires for the track and installing PS4s. Much longer tread life and far safer in cold and, especially, rainy conditions. Otherwise, enjoy!

What about a catch can or charge cooler reservoir? How important are those?

Also how often should I get the diff fluid replaced?
Any other fluids that should be changed? What about elsd fluid?

I replace the diff fluid every other oil change. Use the GM recommended fluid, which is the ELSD stuff.

Yikes, the catch can debate is controversial here. Some say you don't need it, others say you do, and others say it will void the warranty, and others say it won't.

I am very maintenance intensive, because the truth is, I will never have the opportunity to own a better or more expensive car, so mine is a lifetime keeper.

After the initial 500 mile oil and diff changes, change the oil very year or 2500 miles. Change the trans fluid every few years, as well as the coolant.

If you track the car, or modify it, well, you will have to up the maintenance significantly.

Enjoy!

Agree with others on the diff change. At least by 1000 miles, which by the factory service interval is early. Unless you track it, I'd go by the manual for future changes.

I thought elsd and diff fluid were in different places and elsd fluid cost a lot to change because of the labor involved?

Also it seems like zl1s don't get driven much? Am I going to screw myself over if I daily drive it? 300-400 miles a week, mostly highway driving.

If I had one, I'd daily it except in bad or really cold weather. The only negatives would be tires that wear out quickly and the thirsty LT4.

ELSD stands for: Electronic Limited Slip Differential. It is the same as the diff fluid. Not sure about the labor cost. It's not much.

All of this post is truth, IMO. I've had my car 2-years (new) and just crested 2300-miles. MAYBE the diff' fluid doesn't need to be changed this frequently, but, it isn't going to hurt. My car's a keeper, too, so maybe I have to reconsider all this good advice.

I will add that I wanted more whine, so I pulled the blower lid-off probably around 500-miles. It already had a residue of oil on all surfaces, and had also little puddles in the blower housing ribs that are above the rotor case. Because of my long-term plans, I decided then I was putting a catchcan on. I understand the warranty, but I'll have my car way beyond when the warranty expires. Having a little more boost just exacerbates what I see as a problem, and the catchcan actually collects a fair amount of oil. I get about a teaspoon-tablespoon every oil change. It's been changed, after the initial 500/1000 intervals about 2-times now. I can barely feel or pick-up any oil with my finger now, rubbing it behind the TB, in the snout. I'd almost need a paper towel to collect anything.

JMHO.

I don't think most people here daily this car. It's an expensive weekend toy for most.

Yeah I'm used to driving cars that can go for 200k+ easily if maintenaned, but from looking at this forum most people drive these for a few thousand miles a year at most, are these cars capable of running for 200k miles?
