You got that backwards IMO. Need to use the forged OE wheels on the track. I would never trust a 2k set of Apex for that. But that's just me.

I've had them on my BMW track car as well for the last five years. Now, Forgeline or Jethro's Truck Wheels certainly not. The ARC8's are fit to fight, though.

Just to be clear to the OP, a ZL1 is not just an SS with a supercharger. It has many, many performance upgrades compared to an SS. The LT4 in the ZL1 is fully forged, and can handle a lot more power than an LT1. The ZL1 transmissions are stronger. The suspension is better (higher level and comes with Magnetic Dampers). The brakes are huge Brembos (even bigger than the SS 1LE brakes), the wheels are forged aluminum, flared fenders to cover the larger wheels/tires, and it has aero to eliminate lift, component cooling, electronic LSD, heated/cooled Recaros, etc. Also, the styling/design updates you get with a ZL1 are very nice.

Not to mention the creature comforts difference between a 1SS and a ZL1 is large. If you mod an SS to equal a ZL1, you still just have an SS with the value of an SS, but will have invested 10s of thousands of dollars to get it to ZL1 levels.
Doesn't the SS1LE and ZL1 both have 6 piston Brembos?
Just curious what the difference is you mention.

Someone posted previously that the ZL1 has larger Brembos up front than the SS 1LE (both are 6 piston) because it is carrying and extra 200+ lbs in the engine bay (more weight requires more stopping power). So I wouldn't look at it as a gain vs the SS 1LE, as it's likely similar stopping distance (which by the way is already phenomenal!)

Despite the differences they both seem to stop from 60mph in about 93-96ft, which means all the blood is rushing out of your face when you stand on the brakes.

SS 1LE front rotor diameter: 14.6"
SS 1LE rear rotor diameter: 13.3"

ZL1 front rotor diameter: 15.35"
ZL1 rear rotor diameter: 14.4"

Fun fact, the C7 Grand Sport can stop from 60mph in 90ft but the new C8 Corvette takes 97ft due to the mid engine layout and tricky ABS programming to keep the car from getting too twitchy.

Yep. Definitely good brakes.

I make myself nauseous each time I head out on the highway to rebed the brakes before a track event. Apparently, the human brain doesn't like to everything lunging forward 10 times in short succession. I don't think you could ever build a successful amusement park ride patterned after that motion!

Indeed, also the tires on the 1LE and ZL1 are one of the main reasons the stopping distances are shorter.

I go back and watch once in a while. Theres some in car video from the 60s inside a GT 40 with maybe Dan Gurney... at LeMons...Very similar kind of experience.
I never had enough track time.... only in a SCCA prepped Mustang of a friend up at the Pocono infield road course. And a bit of 1/4 mile on Wednesday nights in Englishtown back in the 70s.
Too many expensive hobbies. It is 100% addictive.
All the regular track guys are laughing....
At this point in my life having the 455 V-8 horses and 6M trans is enough.
Just the other day I had to nail it in a sort of Jersey maneuver to keep some dweeb in an egg shaped suv from getting in front of me. Left turn out of the red light with him on the left. then 4 lanes coming into 2. They always floor it to get in front and then they go 1 or 2 MPH below the limit once they achieve the no passing zone. I went around sideways in first, then ran through 3rd shifting at 6 grand and was rapidly approaching 100 before I realized Im 65 and this is the little ladies commuter and she would never understand bailing me out for travelling at 3 times the limit.
"But babe... I couldnt let the econo crap box beat me out of the light... I had to do it..."
Hey Arpad... didnt you move to Tenn from Jersey last year?
Hows things going there??
