I’m kind of new on this specific topic and have no idea per what’s going on with the OP. I do have a question though. What would the dealer profit to hold his order up if they were doing that?

Probably some variation of the classic bait and switch, I'm guessing.

The dealer puts in other orders first. as the dealer wants to keep the sale to you in cue, they string you along awaiting allocation for you. Or they have no allocation or prior orders, and want to make the sale..so they string you along hoping for allocation to get your car. Its all about not letting you go to a competing dealer, even if the other dealer could get you right in. But only shady dealers would not be upfront about it.

Yep, when I was looking at the C8 Corvettes the delivery times for were 9-12 months but...for $10k ADM they could get me one in 3-4 months. You just pay to jump head in the line for the allocations they receive each month. The build time is relatively quick if there are no constraints, but the allocation availability at each dealer is what varies. When I wanted to order a 2022 ZL1 I was 3rd or 4th in line at a couple dealers for a ZL1 allocation but the dealers were only getting one ZL1 allocation per month if lucky. C8 allocations were between 10-15 per month so you can see GM is building a lot more C8s and Silverados than Camaros. I grew impatient so when I found a 2021 show up close to my spec I bought it. Crazy market right now, even as we head into winter.

Just wait, there will be a bunch of posts on the Silverado forums in a year from now from buyers who complain of flat spots on their tires. This supply chain is so jacked up...

I believe you were smart to grab a good used one. That’s becoming the more logical option here as this just gets more and more stupid. It’s a Camaro. Not a limited edition, one off Lambo or something. The data clearly shows that Camaros are and will be trickling out very slowly and if you order a lower level trim and not V8 based your order gets tossed into the "pile" on someone’s desk until further notice. LOL. You weren’t impatient, you were reasonable!

And here we go again…. Please just go buy a Camry. It’s obvious Chevy hates you.

Well I have to admit, waiting half a year for a Shebby is not something I ever entertained the thought of either. However you gonna be waiting for anything you order from anyone right now, Camry ain't gonna save anyone trouble unless bought used- and then have fun paying almost new prices for it.

Actually, the 2021 I bought was new, but there was still no discounting available on it due to the low supply. If I didn't pay MSRP then someone else would. They only seem to last a few days on the lot before they are gone.

What are you mad about exactly? What happened? Just ignore posts that dont sing the praises of the ordering process. Why do you have to chase me around?

"Here we go again" is because GM clearly doesnt have their crap together. Worry about yourself.

I'm not mad, my car is coming in next week. The ordering process is archaic, convoluted, and difficult for buyers to understand, no argument there, and I continue to read posts about it to a) see if I can understand it any better, and b) to offer what knowledge I have been able to pick up - I'm definitely not following you around. In fact, I've tried to help you more than once but you continue to take it personally that GM has not been able to sort out V6 availability, and that has gotten old. Calling you on it keeps me occupied until I can get and drive my car. So don't worry, I will have less time to poke the bear starting next week.

That’s the main issue here. A Camaro is a. Ar I should be able to either pick out at my local dealer or if I do order one it should be a reasonably painless process with some type of tangible delivery date range. I can’t even get an order accepted despite swapping out the V6 and trying to work around constraints. Just bad luck with my local dealers, I guess. There are delays with every car now but I assure you some mfgers have a much better and more reliable system in place. People are getting cars….not Camrys but sports and toy cars at the claimed times. Chevy is one of the roughest for sure.

Got it, good for you either way. Nothing wrong with a 2021. I’d take one if I could fine one. Maybe by spring a few 2021s will be on lots looking for new homes?

It’s fine, forget it. The whole thing sucks. My issues are much more than just the V6 though. Not taking it personally, just very frustrating and hard to get any satisfaction at least from my dealer network. If I could just get a local dealer to get an allocation, accept and place my order so it’s official so I was "in the system" I’d happily be patient and wait until April or May for the car to come in. But I can’t even get that far.

Enjoy your car when You get it. Lucky you!
