Believe it or not a low miles Z28 or SS from the late 90s and early 2000s I've seen for as high as 30 grand! I turn 38 in a month and when I was in high school everyone like the TransAm and the SS/z28 That was the fast car back then. If I had the money and could get a decent one for like 14k I'd do it. They're still quick cars and as a beater toy to drive around I wouldn't mind it. |

The second I see a battery powered Pony car or exotic is when I deem mankind unfit to continue as a species. They've already worked hard to take manual transmissions away and now the !@#$% engines too. . Just think at cars and coffee shows or cruise nights - all those hoods/trunks open to show you their battery setup. BARF.

1LE splitter, splitter installation hardware, 3.91 rear diff carrier assembly are just a few that I can remember. It's one of the reasons I sold my car. I didn't want to have to deal with the headache of finding a new splitter if I had a front end collision. My splitter was chewed up with rock chips but we couldn't find a new one anywhere in the country. Our parts manager said they run into this all the time on vehicles that aren't 10 years old yet. Discontinued parts that they have to try and get used or find something aftermarket. |

NVH is not what makes a car great. You can put an exhaust on anything and make it sound great. Anything. GM had demonstrated (internally) a 2.0T Solstice with a tuned intake that you couldn't tell was not a V8. And that was not electronic enhancements like many cars already do today. It's the overall package that makes a great car. For me, yes I loved the sound of the LS3 in my SS Sedan. Loved it and miss it. But for 95% of my driving my LaCrosse is a farrrrrr better car. If the only reason you buy a car is for how it sounds, good for you. But I laugh when I hear cars go by at low speeds that sound really $hitty simply because they want a LOUD exhaust all the time. Know anyone that pulls the fuse on the variable exhaust on their Corvette or Camaro? Used to do it on my company cars. HORRID on the highway. Absolutely not commercial. Read the Rivian reviews. Outstanding off road performance. Maybe setting new standards for the segment. Yes, I'll miss it too. But it's just such a small part of buying a car. Me? I would never put an exhaust on a car to make it LOUDER but I know that many do. So JMO.

. I have nothing against electric cars but they are for daily driving, errands, going to work, etc. We will have one in our household very soon too. But, I am not interested in having a battery powered toy. Its just not my thing. Sound isnt the only reason to buy a car(well, maybe the Ferrari F355 ) Buts is clearly a tangible piece of the puzzle. I hate loud, obnoxious exhausts and would never have one myself so I agree there. But, I do like petrol engines in my sports/toy cars. Also, many car hobbyists like to tweak, modify, etc their engines. Where is the hands on stuff with a battery? Sorry, I'm old school and I highly doubt Ill change my mind in 10-15 years. Why would I? I just dont see it happening. Also, just my opinion here. All good, mate!

Otherwise, I will take public transit or bicycle. EV doesn't solve a lot of the issues with driving IMO. Public transit and bicycle do. No more dealing with traffic, no more parking.

You need to find a silver lining: I've heard the Kia Rio has no plans for departing any time soon!

It kind of comes back to that old cliche, "That isn't music!" Older generations will always have trouble adapting while younger generations grow up with whatever is pushing the future, be it travel technology, medical technology, music, mathematics, whatever the case may be. The good news is none of us is living forever. Live a good life and have some fun. Slow down, look around at what you already have done and can do. Don't let negative thoughts turn you sour, we only get this one life don't waste it being angry. Especially don't waste it being angry at something you can't control... none of us is going to stop time and progress. |
