It might even be implemented in addition to the gas tax which most of us will still be paying for quite some time.

And yet those electric motors can move that huge chunk o’ metal from 0-60 in @ 3 seconds. Imagine what they would do in a vehicle with half that mass.

All true.

When is see that weight I wonder if this vehicle is “green”. It may be efficient at using its energy but it must use a lot. Also, consider electric power generation and the forms “we” like.

Also. Does it take eight to 15 minutes to prepare itself for the maximum 0-60 like the Tesla Type S Plaid? ...or 10 seconds to activate the launch mode once it is prepared?
Quote:
to get the quickest launch from a 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid, you must dive into the car's infotainment system and select Drag Strip mode. Over the next eight to 15 minutes (the time needed varies), the car preconditions the powertrain for hard acceleration, heating or cooling the battery as needed and chilling the motors.
Once you've enabled Drag Strip mode, quickly chirp the tires on the VHT—at Famoso, it was caked on so thick it very nearly pulled our shoes off—by stabbing the throttle to clear any debris from the tires. To engage launch control, push hard on the brake, press the accelerator to the floor, and wait. Over the next nine or so seconds, the Model S' nose drops into the Plaid's "cheetah stance." When the final "launch control ready" message is displayed, firmly press your noggin against the headrest (trust us), release the brake, and hang on.

It weights more than the Hummer H1 did as well. Might not feel what you hit leaving your local cars and coffee at least.

Makes a lot of sense. By putting the GVWR at just over 10,000 lbs, GM moves it out of the “Light Passenger Vehicle” classification and into the “Light Commercial Vehicle” classification. Some are saying it’s to avoid the safety equipment requirements for Light Passenger. I say nay-nay…Hummer will have all that safety equipment. The rationale is it allows GM to continue to produce 2500 and 3500 series Sierra and Silverado. The EPA averaging will look favorably on the Hummer and that will offset the emissions of the Sierra HD and Silverado HD. So they can keep selling the gas and diesel powered trucks until they complete their transaction to all electric. BTW…their statements about zero emissions applies to Light Duty Passenger Vehicles. So technically Sierra HD and Silverado HD may never have to transition to BEV since technically, they are not Light Duty Passenger Vehicles.

That's a big open glass roof there...nice. Also, looks like a big screen in front of the people inside.

I hope they went with Ford on the exterior design. You know it's different and more "EV-ish", but it's not something that says "yep, I'm virtue signaling". The F150 Lighting looks like an F150, and that is a good thing. I do think they went overboard with the huge lightbar on the front though.
