WAZE Issue

I just noticed that the speed I am driving is not matching with what Waze reports. It is usually off by 50%. I don't have this issue with my 2017 Colorado and I really don't know how long its been in existence since I rarely look at the travel speed on that map. All of this is running on Carplay

I am attaching a pic showing a closeup of the Waze screen where my speed is reported at 29mph but I was actually driving the speed limit.

Any thoughts?

Mine did that, I don’t know how or why it stopped and started using the correct speed. I thought maybe it had someone to do with my phone being jail broken, but I don’t know that I paid attention when I got a new phone to see if it was still showing half the speed.

My first 2016 Camaro had no issue with Waze, but this car has this same problem most of the time. Occasionally it will read correctly but mostly not. It has something to do with the interaction of your phone and the car, because when your phone is plugged in the GPS signal will be cut in half. It will do it with any speed reading app. When you unplug it from the car, your phone will start reading correctly. This has been reported for several years, but each company blames the other.

I had the same problem when I had an iPhone X. I switched to an iPhone 12 recently and the problem went away.

It's all software side, the best case would be messaging Waze support

Ok. I was asking because my wireless adapter had its own GPS that was doing exactly what you are describing. It showed my speed as about half of what I was going. As soon as I shut that off and set it to use the phone gps it worked perfectly

I had this issue with my 2017 Cadillac XT5. After a back and forth with the WAZE tech and submitting a diagnostic report using the built in WAZE software, I reluctantly went to the dealer where much to my surprise there was a software update that fixed the problem. Cadillac rep said they will only apply the fix if there is an issue and they don't do it automatically. Anyway, it works fine now. The only gripe I have is that when I plug my phone in, it automatically starts playing the song list that's on the phone and I have to switch it back to XM.

I assume the dealer will want to charge for the update?
