Was a good ride

My 2016 Camaro 2SS was totaled by a driver turning in front of me at an intersection. The driver didn't want to be late for court and pulled right in front of me and I was doing 45. All I saw was a flash coming across and I slammed on the brakes immediately and still hit him hard enough to total the car. All air bags deployed and smoke filled the entire cab. The accident left me climbing through filled airbags to get out of the car. Pretty scary incident for me.

Of course, the other driver had no insurance and was driving an old Dodge truck. Wasn't any way to dodge that truck. His lane had a Left Turn Yield on Green sign. He was ticketed for no insurance and failure to yield.

I am left with decisions of what to replace it with. Hard to find any new cars and used cars are outrageous. All the new cars that are available have low options. Mine had the magnetic ride control, dual mode exhaust, sunroof and adrenaline red interior. I could do without the red interior. I want the other options.

First, glad you're OK.

Second...damn, that hurts to look at. Idiots suck, even worse when they are behind the wheel. I hope you can find something good, and that you don't get jerked around too much by insurance. I had an idiot cross the center line on me and wipe out my '16 VW GTI, insurance screwed up royally in the estimate and they should have totaled it, but authorized repairs to begin on a partial estimate then fought me later when the repair costs exceeded the threshold of KBB value.

Take care of yourself, and good luck in the hunt for a replacement.

Damn that’s a lot of damage. Sorry to see it but glad you weren’t hurt in the accident. Now you can upgrade to a ZL1 or ZLE. Good luck.

Thanks for the good luck. Insurance has been really good. The high used car prices are working in my favor. I pickup my check this Wednesday. Still wish it hadn't happened. Poor car...

Man, I'm so sorry to see and read this... but as JKSully says, what matters the most is that you were unharmed (at least I assume, since you didn't mention any injuries). These cars are built very well.

I made a mistake and wrecked mine last Spring, so I know how it feels to look at your cherished ride in disbelief. My car spent 2 months in the body shop, but luckily it came back looking and riding practically better than new.

Hopefully your insurance company has your back and you'll be able to find a replacement soon.

Just minor scrapes to arm and chest from the airbags I reckon.

I did have a few laughs about it looking back. I told my son that it was hard getting out of the car because of the airbags from seats and the top of doors. I told him that it must have looked like the Camaro was giving birth to an old guy. I hoped there wasn't any cellphone videos out there. He laughed and said it probably looked similar to Ace Ventura coming out of the rhino.

They are only cars but you do get attached to them. It could have been much worse. I am thankful it did turn out ok and no one was hurt.

Wow that really sucks, I’m glad your ok also. Looks like the air bags really did there job of protecting you. And the driver of the truck will get off with a slap on the wrist. He should be in jail for awhile for not being responsible enough to at least have liability insurance.

Is your back hurting. I hope so, then you can sue him and teach him a real lesson on how not to drive.

Police didn't arrest him. Police gave him a break so he wouldn't miss court and have an arrest warrant for failure to appear. Last I saw of him was him walking to courthouse. He only had to walk a hundred yards to the courthouse. I don't know why he was rushing so much to pull out in front of me.

Insurance company will never see any money from him.

LOL one of the best scenes ever. Glad you're able to laugh about it, even though it's a terrible deal. I hope you remain well and that you're able to get something fun again!

Sorry this happened to you. I would be really upset if I lost my SS. If it happened to me I would place an order for another 2 SS Vert and wait but you may need transportation before the car comes in.
