It will show you when your warranty starts. Mine started on the day the vehicle was purchased. |

That's the thing. Technically it did My vehicle status was "delivered" after I signed the paperwork. That's usually the last thing that happens. Once it does the dealer gets credit for the sale and the status showed at delivered 6000 status. It does not matter that the car is still in transit. |

For anyone doing paperwork before the vehicle is at the dealer and inspected by you, isn't that a very risky move just to be able to track where the car is via OnStar (as that seems to be the reason people have given for doing this)? The car could have visible defects from the factory, get damaged in transit, etc and now aren't you on the hook for that vs the dealer? Not hating on anyone just curious what the incentive is to finalize paperwork before the car is there...especially if the warranty starts that day. I'd be doing a thorough inspection of the car (including underneath) before taking official "delivery", especially if the thing has sat in some yard for months.

Probably wiser not to buY before it arrives, but I didn't want to lose the car to someone else since these are hard to find. For me, the risk of losing a brand new $34K car, and taking a car with options I don't want to finance...or worse, not getting the trim I want at all, outweighed the risk of receiving a lemon. Being able to track through OnStar probably has helped, but either way I'm still waiting. Unless someone goes real screwy your ability to track the vehicle in transit will have little to no impact on the date you actually receive it.
