New to me ZL1 questions

Ok I have a couple of questions. I got a 2018 ZL1 about a month ago with 5k miles. I have a couple of questions i was hoping you guys can help me with.

1. I am close to secure a set of ZLE wheels. The tires size for the front are 285/35/19 and the rear are 325/30/19. Will i have any issues with those tires sizes and the Magnetic ride? Will i have to recalibrate the Magnetic ride for the new wheels?

2. If I get lowering springs, will i have to recalibrate the Magnetic ride? I know the ZLE tires will poke past the fenders, should i refrain from lowering the car?

3. Every time i shut off the car, as the car start to cool off, i can hear single noises from the exhaust. Probably near the cats. It sounds like when you oven is cooling off and you hear like a metal pop. Is this normal? I had a ZLE before and i don't recall this happening.

4. I am quite certain there is some sort of buzzing upon start up for about 5-10 sec.. i don't really know how to describe this noise but it does go away.

5. Is there any way to figure out if the car was tuned in the past? I am only curious because I have some sort of shaking at idle.. for those with precious LS engine, it is like that subtle rumble.. i have that shaking in my Corvette but that car ha headers, intake and is tuned. I also don't remember having this shaking at idle on the ZLE.

My 2017 has the noise when the exhaust is cooling down and the buzzing on startup too. Not sure about recalibrating MRC when changing springs or wheels but think yours will be okay. The only mod I have done is a Roto-Fab CAI on mine. Oh and the idle during warmup is slightly rough but smooths out when the engine temperature gets higher. The 2010 LS3 Camaro I had had a slightly rough idle with a CAI and headers/exhaust system which had a tune too.

The ride height sensors should adjust the MRC shocks when adding lowering springs. You'll just need a full front and rear alignment.

Just beware that lowering the car is going to make for a harsher ride. I installed lowering springs on a 2013 ZL1 and swore afterward I would never do it again.

I believe the front tire size should be 305s, but I imagine you won't have and issues or anything. You can't really calibrate the MR (there is alleged hardware/software to do it, but it doesn't seem to be that effective or worth it so far).

A little of the same as above. Higher quality springs could be a help if you track or something.

Just normal pinging sound.

I think you are hearing the HIDs warm-up.

If you have something like HPTuners, you could compare a stock file to your car. That requires hardware from HPTuners and someone willing to do it, so it could be expensive.

Just some thoughts coming from a new Gen 6/ZL1 owner...

Ok. Sounds like all the stuff i am experiencing is normal.

Yes I undertsand the ride will be harsher but if it's a small drop, it should be too bad.. that will be down the line. I need to drive the car first for s bit.

I was excited to wash my car today... Until i realize that whoever owned the car before me, probably took this car to a car wash on the regular. There are lots of scratches on the clear coat that will not buff off like the swirl marks did...

Why would anyone take a ZL1 to a car wash...? Errr.. I didn't realize this when I was shopping for the car. I think the swirl marks hide those other scratches.

So true about car wash places and therefore mine will never go thru one. My suggestion is to find a professional car detail person to work on your ZL1. Check the local classifieds and ask other car folks around your area for recommendations on car detailing shops.

Paint correction and ceramic coat ASAP, plan to shell out at least $1000

+ 1 on the 305 up front. With a track alignment I needed a thin spacer.

Another thing that i noticed is that the dimming side mirror and rearview mirror do it all the time. Ok during the day, no issues but as the sun starts to go down and there are lights around me, it will become dark to the point i can't see...

Sometimes it even does it in the garage when I start the car. Is this normal? Again, I didn't have this happened to my other Camaro..

Yep, normal. Well, my 19 & 21 seem similar, the 21 may be a little more touchy. The photo sensors are sensitive & response is pretty quick.

Ok cool. Just checking.. pretty annoying though. Maybe it is also the fact my windows have a tint too dark for my liking.

I don't think paint correction will fix the couple of scratches that i am referring to. But I will give it a try. Luckily it is only in certain areas. Regardless, it is disappointing. I suppose one cannot tell unless you look at the car with a flashlight at certain angles Soo just gotta stop doing that lol

Ok i have an appointment with the dealer this Friday to inspect my Xpipe. Anything else i should have them inspect while there? Any TSBs? My warranty expires in 10 days. Any updates to any software? Any update to the magnetic ride? Any items to look at for the Supercharger?
