6000 Status Delivered... But it's not?

First, a very special thank you to JoeP@TeamBeckyD for providing info that my dealer cannot (or will not). I read hundreds of pages of that thread and it's both heartbreaking and inspiring.

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=415251

My question to anyone reading, have you had experience with getting the 6000 status but you don't have your ride? What are some of the reasons this would happen? I'm trying to dial in my anxiety so any experiences shared would be greatly appreciated.

6000 status means the vehicle is sitting at the dealership and they are doing the PDI or preparing the vehicle for delivery. My dealer called me the minute they finished this, both to make me happy and to make room for another vehicle on their lot, which is what I'd expect from any reasonable dealership.

Is there any other scenario where the vehicle is marked as delivered but not actually delivered yet? My dealer says they don't have the car.

Well, one scenario I can think of is that it was sold to someone else. Hopefully, that's not the case.

I hope the VIN is correct as I have access to the OnStar. Or I should say had access as it hasn't given me an update since 4 Aug. I have insurance on the vehicle as well.

I'll be furious if they sold my car to someone else.

Last place I saw it was in the CN rail yard near the GM Lansing Delta Assembly.

why would you insure a vehicle you don't own yet? You place insurance on it when or shortly after you take delivery, unless you like to waste money.

I guess because I bought it and wanted to be an insured driver while I wait for it to arrive. I treated it like any other car purchase, except I didn't get the car. Yet.

Side note, my insurance actually went down with the Camaro. I traded in a 21 Kia Stinger.

Did you complete paperwork?

If so…
It was reported “Delivered” …electronically.

It does not mean - that it is at the dealer.

At this point -
only the ordering dealer can see progress.

Update! It moved! A little. OnStar started working again which tells me the vehicle was started. Now it's on a railroad track, still in Michigan.

For those desperate for any info whatsoever, I will give a status update.

My car was built on July 16th. It was delivered to the CN railyard on 22nd of July. The car was loaded up onto a train on Wednesday the 18th of August. It actually left the area the following morning (19 Aug). It arrived in Chicago Thursday night (19) Aug. It has been sitting in a rail card at a Union Pacific station just south of Chicago since then. Crossing my fingers that it moves again before I lose the ability to track it with OnStar.

edit - I should mention the car is eventually headed to Wichita KS.

I believe it shuts down after 7 days of the vehicle not being started. I ran into this problem once when flying. I left the keys in the car on purpose so it would be one less thing to keep track of thinking I could remote unlock the car using the app. I had to contact OnStar to unlock the car for me remotely.

Thank you for sharing that. Looks like I have until Wednesday if that is the case.
