CT5-V Blackwing vs ZL1 and ZLE Lap Times
C&D Lightning Lap (VIR) Times:
ZLE (2019) - 2:45.7 CT5-V Blackwing (2022) - 2:49.5 ZL1 (2017) - 2:50.1 https://gmauthority.com/blog/2021/08...ri-458-italia/ https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...storical-data/ C&D states "in more favorable conditions we're confident the ZL1 had a 2:48 in it, maybe high 2:47" |

Impressive for a 4 door sedan.

2:48 seems more realistic for the ZL1. No way a heavier sedan with the same suspension, chassis, and brakes (ceramics are an option on Blackwing) is faster. Horsepower difference is negligible. Ideally they should run them the same day
Blackwing is cool but that is one heck of a mark-up for what is basically a ZL1 with a nicer interior. |

What were the factory options the CT5 Blackwing had? It does come with 2 different carbon fiber packages.
Was it also a 6spd or A10 car? |

I hope to be sitting in one within the next 12 months unless the Covid shortage kills it for me. Comparing the differences in the interiors (ZL1 vs Blackwing) would be similar to comparing a base Camry to a Lexus 500.

Not clear from the write-up, I assume it's a 10 speed - the time was also set by "development engineers", not C&D staff, so this isn't really apples to apples
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...ackwing-drive/ "Development drivers used the most permissive Race setting when setting lap times. Cadillac did some development at VIR and probably spent several sets of Blackwing-specific Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires chasing the 2:49.3 lap laid down by the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S at Lightning Lap a few years ago. In the hands of development engineers, the CT5-V Blackwing turned a 2:49.5. Not impressed? The Blackwing costs $87,090, or about half as much as the AMG GT sedan did in 2019." Haha - that's a bit of an exaggeration to say the least. The Lexus LC is one of the best interiors available |

CT Blackwing is awesome. Think I prefer the looks of the CTS V. And its actually attainable. The 5 Blackwing is the last ICE V so its going to command a penny for years to come. Similar to the Z28 and Chevy SS. Unless its a Copart special.

For the difference in cost, even considering the LT5 slight power advantage, one could add some ZLE aero & rims/ tires to be equal or better.
Hell, for the difference in price that’s a 2650, LT’s, E Tune, etc. yet I digress. |

ZLE did 2:45 in the hands of C/D. We still don't know what Bill Wise did with the ZLE at VIR so I'm sure that was even faster!
Amazing that even after all these years, the ZLE is among the elite.

Order banks for both the 4 and 5 Blackwings were opened recently (250 for each). I was told the 5 sold out within 10 minutes and 62% were ordered with the 6M. A few have been delivered to customers but for the most part they are unobtainable until 2022.

The initial 250 of each were reservation cars. That happened back in early February. Allocations have since started to trickle out. TPWs for the non-reservations cars are being pushed out to November.
