ZL1 1LE order time [Canada]

Hello all,

I'm very close to doing a deal on a factory order ZL1 1LE but the dealership has said that they're unsure if they can even get allocation for one. I can leave a deposit and maybe have one within 2 years and if not then my deposit will be refunded. This isn't ideal and is my only holdback with going ahead with the car. I'm okay to wait for a year but waiting for 2 years with the potential of not getting the car at all means I'll likely have to explore other options if this is the case.

Are ZL1 1LEs genuinely this difficult to order?

Thanks

negotiate a better deal. Say you are willing to put more money down for a shorter term but still refundable and renewable if you are waiting. Otherwise offer a smaller deposit on a 2-year contract with an option to back out every 6 months if the order is still 1100. It's not harder to get a 1LE in the US it's more about getting an allocation for CA.

After making my thread here, I ended up contacting another dealer who I’ve dealt with before and who has a history of selling Corvettes and ZL1s who said they should be able to have one for next summer, so went ahead with them.

Hopefully it all pans out.

Well I worked for a good size dealer in Alberta who has 3yrs of deposits on C8,s. In 21 there were 3 ZLE sent to Canada and I know there’s a lot of interest in these cars now just look at what people are getting in Kijiji there’s a 2020 in Alberta for sale right now for 120,000. Dealers have no clue on when or if there gonna get the cars it’s a truck and SUV priority for GM I think you should buy a lottery ticket or find one here already

I’m in Ontario and ordered a new ZL1 1LE. The dealer can find out if they can get an Allocation for one through their district manager. If the dealer cannot get an Allocation move on to the next dealer.
I sat as the dealer I dealt with made the phone call to the district manager. When the district manager was able to verify an Allocation for my dealer, he sent my dealer an email verifying the Allocation. Make sure you see this email!!!
Dealers have been known to say they can get one, then the customer waits…..and waits….and waits. Next thing you know it’s been a year. Why?
Cause the dealer did NOT have an Allocation for one.
Trust me on this.

This!! Like I said I worked there then after seeing that business I moved on. Horrible Horrible and I’m told that place was one of the better ones.
I have a nice Black 21 with 2000km in the clock if someone wants it for 120 Cdn.

Once again, there will only be 50 1LEs for Canada in 2022. Make sure you place an order with a dealer that has previously sold ZL1s and preferably 1LEs. They typically get priority for allocation.

I just placed an order for a ZLE 22MY with my dealer. They sold 3 last year and were guaranteed 3 for 2022 if they wanted them.

Also, watch out for dealer markup. Msrp is a great deal on these. I paid 5K over for my first 2019 after haggling. They originally wanted 10K over.

Good luck.

Thank you all! I appreciate all of the responses.

I placed an “order” with a dealer that we have a great relationship with through work who has sold ZL1s and lots of Corvettes. They said they can’t physically order these until September or October but once ordering is open mine will be placed.

Happy to wait even if it takes until next summer to arrive. This is one of the last chances we have to buy supercharged V8s with a manual transmission so I want to make sure I get my hands on one.

Op, I would also add that because you guys (our Canadian friends to the north) have an even harder time getting ZL1/ZLEs I would definitely follow ScottyZ's advice as well as put in orders at MULTIPLE dealerships. Of course, make sure that your deposit at each dealership is fully refundable, signed by the sales manager. This way you increase your chances of getting one of these beasts. As soon as one of the dealers you have an order with gets your order picked up by GM to build your order, you cancel your orders with the other dealerships and get the money from the deposit back.
