OP: What are the benefits to this system. As an everyday user, what are the benefits.

I don't track, make dyno pulls (yet), and only really stand on the gas pedal occasionally....

A poorly bled intercooler circuit can cause several issues, but typically these wont be noted in a daily driving situation or with just a very brief WOT pull.

The more consecutive pulls that are made, or in a situation like a road coarse, the issues will become more and more severe and apparent.
Possibilities include detonation, misfires, and drastic reduction in power. In some situations, the coolant pump can even shut off entirely leaving the entire intercooler circuit non functioning.

The benefit to this system is its simplicity and effectiveness. GM, even from the factory, is not able to bleed the the systems effectively. Their tools provided to the dealership technicians are incredibly expensive to purchase, time consuming to use, and don't produce a high quality bleed.

The 'Cooler Bleeder will give you an extremely high quality bleed, is easy to operate, and performs the bleed very quickly. As a home user, you can perform a better quality bleed than the dealership can in your driveway at home. As a shop, the efficiency of this system shines and creates profit. Setup the tool and walk away. Come back in 15 minutes and the system is thoroughly bled.

Weather was terrible this weekend. Going to try to setup something this week. Would still like another volunteer if available!

Bring your rig to Denver. Can probably round you up several ZL1s to do.

What other addition components, or fittings, do our ZL1’s require that don’t come in the base kit?

The LT4 in the ZL1 varies a little. The VAST majority of them use just the Series 5 adapter to connect the main bleeder kit to the vehicle. The Series 5 adapter is a replacement for GM tool GE-47716-30a , including the shorter depressor valve. If the Series 5 adapter is needed, your bleeding port will look like this:

However, there was a service bulletin published by GM that instructed the dealers to convert the ZL1 to the Corvette style bleeding port before they had tooling available to bleed the other port style. If this was done to your car, the bleeder port was retrofitted to the Corvette Style, then you would use the Series 2 adapter and QC1 plug instead. This style is a flower shaped cap, like this:

I do also have a large assortment of other adapter styles and fittings if you have modified away from the factory style fittings.

Outside of these adapters, you will have to supply an electric vacuum pump as discussed above.

TTT, all the potentials fell through the cracks. Still looking for a tester or two.

Is the intercooler cooling system separate from the car's regular radiator cooling system?
