Question Weird steering issue

Like that title says, its weird. When im turing the wheel at slow speed like an intersection or parking lot, the wheel seems to chatter/pulsate as im turning it to the left. As if the actuator is not moving smoothly, but jerky instead.
Didnt see any other posts about this, just steering dying. Been doing it about a year and seems more noticeable on loose pavement or grass. Do you think my actuator is having issues and sticking?

Your 2016 has electronic power steering.(EPS). It doesn't use fluid. Instead it uses an electric motor to power the rack and pinion. I think your electric motor is wearing out and needs replaced.

yeah i remember now its electric. Sounds like the motor is having issues then even with only 18k miles. Weird how it only does it turning left, (extending the shaft i believe).

There was a recall on the steering rack for 2016. Did you have your's fixed. It has something to do with a bolt. I would check your VIN and see if the recall was ever fixed.

Anyone have specifics on exactly what is (potentially) wrong with the power steering? I think the recall just says, "may lose power assist." I think I read at one point that the position sensor in the unit might fail. I have not been in a hurry to have mine replaced (2017 2SS).

CR says the impacted build date range is from July 1, 2016 to May 19, 2017, which looks suspiciously close to the entire 2017 model year to me.

It effected my Camaro and it was built in March/ April 2016.

I had a similar issue with my 2015 Canyon. But as soon as I turned off the truck and turned it back on, it was fine. The steering wheel was turning as if it was indexing in multiple positions instead of turning freely. I couldn't make it go straight, it was either slightly to the left or to the right. No "inbetween" position. This happened around 6k miles ago and never done it again... Hopefully it's the same for you.

I entered the VIN number but didnt show anything. Seems like the actuator is probably going bad. Cant find any other info on this.
