Anderson trunk lid with built in spoiler
I’m thinking of getting a Anderson Composite trunk lid with built in spoiler. I don’t like the exposed carbon fiber look and want to have it painted the same color as the car (satin steel). I searched the threads looks like people that installed love them however I did not notice anyone that had them painted. I’m curious if anyone has had any experience doing what I want to do. If I liked the look of the mat black hood wrap that came on the car it would have been easy to just wrap the trunk but I had it removed first thing when I bought the car because I love the satin steel color and didn’t want it covered up. I’ll have to find someone to paint it any special process with carbon fiber? I want to have a better feel before I pony up $1100 plus for it. One last thing seems like the item can purchased cheaper through other vendors that carry Anderson rather than directly from Anderson. I’m curious what members experience on purchasing is as well.
Thanks in advance. |

I know a guy in my area who got the trunk lid with the duckbill spoiler + COPO hood and got it color matched to his car. Looks good (although I prefer exposed carbon) - didn't ask if there was a special process to do it although I'd imagine any reputable body shop would have no problem.
When I tried placing my order with Anderson they actually told me to use a 3rd party vendor when ordering to get it sooner. They told me to go with Phastek, but I believe the best price is PFYC unless there is a better coupon circulating around. |

PFYC is a good price. Can’t tell if they have free shipping I’ll have to call them. What color Camaro did the guy in your area have? Any pictures? I have yet to see any pictures of any that were color matched to the car. If anyone else has any please post. Last edited by VT-1LE; 03-17-2021 at 08:36 AM. |

I’ll have to check with some shops around here to see what they say about painting it. |

To each his own, but I’m not an exposed carbon fiber fan except accents like mirrors, splitter, side skirts, hood vent, etc. For instance I like the carbon fiber center on the ZL1 hoods. I’m also not a fan of the Matt black hood wrap that’s why I had mine removed first thing. I do like seeing all the different things people do to their cars on here even if it’s not a modification I might like.

There's a company does the same trunk from Anderson but not the carbon fiber color. It's just black plastic that you find on any other parts like spoilers and all. It's $430 if you want that it's way better. Same trunk just not carbon fiber. Im still considering on buying it because I do want the carbon on it just a bit pricey right now considering my other mods.

The anderson composite is a bolt on. It replaces the factory piece, using factory hinges and has provisions for 3rd brake light. The VFN is pin on. So no provisions for a 3rd brake light, and you have to rig up a way to attach it to your car (either pins, dzus rails, etc) and they tend to leak... so not DD friendly.
