PDR video downsizing question

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to downsize some of my PDR videos to put on youtube and the file size is massive. What have you guys been using to downsize the videos so you can upload them? Thanks in advance as well as I tried to search for any other threads on this but my search fails every time I use it. Probably Operator error but I did try to search.

Any number of video editors can do it.. or some free tools, like MP4 cutter. There bunch of free version out there.

For windows based for under $20.. this is decent:

You can add titles, trim, etc.

Youtube creator not an option or file just too big ?

I used the pre-installed Windows movie editor (can’t remember exactly what it’s called) to edit the length of my PDR video, then was able to upload it to YouTube no problem. I didn’t pay attention to the size, but I had no issues. Maybe it was because my video was only a minute long?

I didn't even know YouTube Creator was an option. I'm going to check that out and some of the others you mentioned. Thank you for the help

Please note that once you downsize or edit the video, the metadata will no longer be accessible. For example, once edited, I could not run this with Cosworth Toolbox or Pi Toolbox. Maybe I did something wrong? What are other's experiences?

I just use Window's Movie Maker that is included with Windows 7. No one wants to watch a 20 minute long track session. Trim the length of the video to 2-10 minutes.

YouTube can handle it, I'd just upload the full raw size. I use Handbrake on MacOS if i need to change the compression/format though

Can’t you just copy the original & modify the copy, keeping the original data intact?

Use Movie Maker to edit my videos. It is very simple and straight forward, once you understand how to use the software. One thing is the ext on the file and/or the format it is saved to. When saving the finish product on Movie Maker it will give you a number of options on how you want it saved. Make sure you save it as a YouTube post "if you are going that route"
I don't know about other software, but this software doesn't use the original file, it copies it, so you still have the original intact.
Most of my posted videos are a couple of minutes long. I don't believe YouTube restricts videos based on time length.
