To each his own. Most C8 buyers are content to order from a dealer willing to sell AT MSRP, and recognize that MSRP is a fair deal under the current market conditions. Whereas the appears OP is willing to blow up the deal over $1,500. That's Nuts.

EDIT: I guess I am saying I have bought dozens of new cars from many different dealers (some the same), I treat it like a business transaction nothing more, nothing less.

EDIT: I've had people walk on lease deal over $10/mo because "the ad said differently" but they didn't qualify for anything in the ad. I feel OP is more than justified to walk away. unless the car has a lot of options you'll never find on a lot and you'll end up paying for out of pocket |

If you have a used car to trade in, then in most cases the increase value of the trade will help to offset the increased price on the new car. However, if you have nothing to trade it is kind of hard to pay MSRP on a Camaro when you know they were selling for 20% off a couple years ago. It is not like demand for the Camaro has increased, they just can't build at all right now.
One thing is for sure, once the new car inventories start showing up again you can expect the dip in prices to follow. If you plan to keep the car for the long haul then paying $1500 more is not a huge ordeal but if you like to get in and out every 2-3 years you may feel the depreciation a bit more on this one.

The dealerships are living high on the hog price wise right now. The car and car part shortage will eventually end and it could take a few years. Dealerships are making lots of cash now if they can maintain any inventory. Inquired into a C8 near Daytona last week.30k over sticker. I know it sucks waiting, my 2SS 1LE was ordered in February, but paying over MSRP nonsense.

In 2012, I had to negotiate with the dealership to just pay sticker for their first ZL1. I bought multiple vehicles there and wasn't happy about that price but they planned to charge $5K above sticker on future ZL1's. I paid sticker and got the car I ordered. No regrets.
I have a 2022 ZLE ordered and while the dealership is unable to give me a price at this time as Chevrolet reportedly hasn't finalized new car pricing, I'll be happy again to get the car I ordered and again, only pay sticker in this market. It's simple - here's the price; take it or leave it. I think I'll have no regrets again and these beasts are still a great value. If they would just mark the $75K car up to $85K and give me $10K off, I'll probably feel better as I drive off.....

My wife and i just went to local GMC/Buick to check out Enclave. GM rebates $5k off plus dealer discounts. Its good huge price off from sticker. I never bought anything from them and i didnt ask discounts but they are willing to.
I have called local Toyota where i have bought couple vehicles since they are opened. I called 5 times, but no call back. I understand they have no cars to sell. In this time, if you want to get a good deal then try look for brands/modela that sitting there for while instead very hard to find or must order models.

When being asked to pay MSRP for a car in times like this is what you're worked up about, you know life is going well for you. Congrats on that I guess.

Quick search for GM, this is for end of 1Q21, but, it's all the same for Ford, etc. A quick excerpt: https://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gm/...1-gmsales.html Update on global semiconductor shortage Like other automakers, GM has been impacted by the global semiconductor shortage. GM is building some vehicles without certain modules when necessary. They will be completed as soon as more semiconductors become available, which will help GM quickly meet strong expected customer demand during the year. GM also targets recovering lost car and crossover production where possible in the second half of the year. GM ended the quarter with 334,628 units in inventory, down 76,247 units from the end of the fourth quarter of 2020. |

I would think on these performance car forums people are more astute and educated when it comes to purchasing a car and not stupid enough to pay sticker. Most of us on here you would never see buying at Carmax for example paying 4 grand more for the same used Camaro you could get at a regular dealer for example and with less miles. |
