If the dealership can't answer your questions, what about asking the closest Chevy dealership to the car, to do a PPI on it for you?
Or at least have the selling dealer put the car on a lift and start taking pictures of the exhaust and closer pics of the engine bay specifically pointed at the upper and lower pulleys. May not get answers on anything internal but might get you more knowledge than you're getting now. Just "typing" out loud.... |

I bought a 2017 off eBay with green belt, lower pulley, headers, cai and a tune. Had 33,000 miles for $35k. Car has been great and obviously had no warranty.

Thanks for everyone's feedback!
Going to just walk away from this one. Dealership has not been any sort of help, the kind you would expect when purchasing a $70k car, so I no longer have an interest in doing business with them. Will keep searching. Thanks again!! |

Imo, probably your best bet. Red flags are there for a reason. In the end, its just a car and there are others that will pop up.

That car is NOT gonna sell. Not at that price and with the dealership playing that dumb and with that much of a lack of info on the car. If it does sell and at that price then it will be to someone who doesn't know better and they will end up getting screwed. So yea, go find a used ZLE at a dealership where they can give you a confirmed full warranty in writing and exact info on the car and probably a much better price too.

This is a bad buy unless a huge discount and/or they give you a power train warranty of some kind. |

As someone else said, ask them if they will have the car certified by GM for a warranty. If they will and the price is right go for it.

We cant even GM certify it with a catback on it, much less everything else thats been done to that one. So thats a no-go.

I bought my '18 ZLE a month ago for 60k. Had to fly out to texas for it. 6.2k miles.
I wouldn't buy a modded car unless i knew the history of the car, who did the work, etc. I have seen way too many times people's crappy work... If the car is local and you can easily check it out thats one thing. if you have to travel out there... the risk is too high for me personally. When I was looking for a ZLE I saw both sides.. I would call about a car and they would say they have 2-3 deposits it on it and I can be added as a 3rd or 4th lol. Then some cars I would call on and getting any basic info or even a sales person to talk to me was like pulling teeth. Maybe they think I wasn't serious and am too far away? |
