My new purchase will be a major downgrade other than getting A/C back....

As for the cleaning and whatnot, I don't like spending potential drive time in cleaning and detailing my cars to the inth.... I have always been more about go rather than show....

I don't do car shows... I enjoy car gatherings, but when grown men act like children if their prized possession doesn't win, I roll my eyes and walk away.... I have been requested and accommodated shows as a judge.... many times...

Oh here's a secret, I gave street points to cars actually driven to a show rather than being trailered in within a fully enclosed air conditioned trailer with a rug and mirrors placed all around... and heaven forbid cones and barrier tape...

I had a guy offer me a creeper to look under the edges of his car.... No thanks, I'll lay on the ground.... If I look at the odometer and it's a ten year old car with 1300 miles, and it isn't a seriously hard core track car.... I'm off to more realistic offerings....

If I have a bit of brake dust on my wheels I'm ok with that... If the brake pads on my daily last more than a few months, all the better... If I get in a couple hundred miles driving on a weekend rather than six to 10 hours cleaning and waxing and rubbing and etc etc etc... my car... I'm great with that...

I had a race car, that I occasionally drove on the street, and I downgraded it to make it more user friendly on the street.... Now, due to personal health reasons, it's time to do a permanent unmod, nonmod, (however that would be said) by selling my lowly 2010 SS and buying a 2020 ZL1 1LE.... It'll be tough, but I'll manage.... I think... I'll have to adapt to a slower car....

You said you do track days, and that's cool, but until others are paying for my car, I'll downgrade it if it makes it more user friendly, and that doesn't make ME a lessor person...
Good for you! Again, do with your car and money as you please. Your post was a bit loaded, and I am not sure how all of it applies to my point?... which is you can keep the stock pads, because if all you are going for is dust prevention, then you can simply Ceramic coat the wheels. You keep the performance, you minimize the dust, and whatever dust is left can be easily hosed down.... no need for cleaning, waxing, rubbing, etc... you can drive all you want and wash less.

And to your last statement, I never implied that anyone that goes to a lower performance pad is a lesser person. Sorry if you read that wrong, but do with your money and car as you please. And to clarify, yes I called some of the pads in this thread a downgrade, that is my opinion - but until someone here is willing to pay for my car, insurance policy, house, etc...

I'm thinking that we should all dump our Brembo factory pads and GY F1 SC 3/3Rs, because Chevrolet engineers, Brembo engineers and THE premier race tire company ever, that has specifically engineered the 3/3R for the 6GEN Camaro, have absolutely no idea what they are doing.

I guess that it comes down to your preference... pretty or performance.

Not a hater, just saying.

And that’s what it all boils down to... We each pay for, operate and mod our cars to our liking and driving styles...

I’m not saying you are guilty of such, but there are people that have been all over the, “OMG” you can’t demod a factory item... Some folks act as if they drive 10/10 all the time...

I personally plan on racking up miles and smiles... I’ve only got 23,000 or so on my 2010, though much of that was well in excess of 200 mph... honestly I’m tired of the mod game...

I’ll buy a ZL1 1LE and swap out the tires and brake pads, with a spare set of wheels, save the race tires and factory pads for occasional track days... when those items are on the car I’ll trailer it to the track...

Enjoy your ride and keep the rubber bits out of the bar ditches...

I think the logical next step would be to put chrome 24 inch rims on the car. No? Then maybe remove the blower? You know, increase that fuel economy for the street. Probably shouldn't floor it either, you know that very hard to clean carbon that builds up on the back of the car.

When you guys talk about initial bite. What is that exactly?

I drive an overloaded F150 for work, all week. Its free, but it isn't much fun, and braking doesn't really occur until the pedal is halfway to the floor. Then I drive the ZL1 Friday night, and the slightest touch on the brake pedal face plants me. Is this "initial bite"? Because the change in pedal feel is a little irritating the first day, both ways... I also don't need a racecar for everyday driving.

Yes, that's initial bite. Even on my SS with the small 4-pot Brembos the brakes start biting fairly early in the pedal travel and strong.

Your head is not supposed to hit the steering wheel, though; if that's the case, something isn't right, either your foot is too heavy or the car isn't set up correctly.

Yes, a touchy brake pedal or initial bite is unnecessary, put a set of dust free ceramic front pads on the car and it will stop the initial bite and brake dust.

I love this string - even though you all disagree vehemently (personally I like the OEM pads) - the passion you have for your cars is obvious. Keep it up!!!
