Goodyear F1 3R rotation
Hey guys. I see that these tires have an outside and inside. But are they directional? Can I swap left to right?
The track I go do punishes the left sides and I'd like to flip them to the right. Also, if anyone has 'tire skills' please take a look at these pics. This is with street alignment. 6 sessions on a 2.9 kilometre circuit. 19 turns. 26 psi cold. I'd love some feedback. Going to the track alignment b4 next sessions. |

I'm uncertain but look on the sidewall where the tire size is and if you see an arrow pointing in 1 direction, then it's only meant to go in that direction. It'll say direction or rotation as well

I looked for several minutes. Cannot see a rotation arrow or wording.

They can be flipped- many folks that use on the track do that to get most of them- no issues have been reported.

The only issue with flipping is that the outside half provides much wider un-grooved patch for cornering performance, so you will get slightly less grip.
But I have to ask, are you at least flipping the wheels left to right, both front and rear, on these track days? You have to bring a jack and tools to do that, and if you do the tires will wear more evenly left and right. I do this on every track I go to, and at this track it looks like you have to do this between every session vs every 2. With that wear pattern it looks like you're driving on an oval. |

If you rotate the wheel and tire, then the outside stays outside. You are safe to do this and it will help maximum tread life. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Cheers! That's what I was looking for. Negative camber will help my outside tire wear. (hoping). I've also got a new set on order, so with the new alignment I'm anticipating more even wear to the middle and inside.

left/right swap helps tire wear and the Goodyear 3R tires are not directional. I have done this many times because the left side tires take more punishment at VIR. No vibrations occur or any strange feelings.

Yes I know, I also have a ZL1 1LE with 15+ track days since 2019.
I was saying the following, between track sessions... 1. You jack up the front of the car and remove both of the FRONT wheels, then move the wheel from left side and mount it on the right side, and the wheel from the right side now goes back on the left side. Then... 2. You jack up the rear of the car and remove both of the REAR wheels, then move the wheel from left side and mount it on the right side, and the wheel from the right side now goes back on the left side. 3. Then lower the car and be sure to retorque all wheels to 140 lbs. By front and rear, I wasn't suggesting cross swapping them. |

That would not achieve what the OP is looking for, even on a normal track (unlike his) eventually you do get more outer patch wear if you swap L/R but never flip and remount on wheel, so to maximize 3R life you should flip tires inside out. You may lose a little grip, but your tires will last ~30% longer and still perform well until the end. I do this in addition to always swapping wheels left/right every 1-2 sessions both front and rear (and no I'm not cross swapping, yes I know they're staggered) I also do pre-event Hot Lap Victory Lane softener treatment after the first event on new tires--takes 6 coats, 3 per day over 2 days at least 2 days prior to event. It works. |

I swap left to right after each track day. You need more negative camber.
