Anyways, im in this boat too and I don't know what to do. Payed a lot for this car, it was a lease but a more emotional decision. Now I just got offered 43k for my car. I feel its stupid not to sell.

I read someone sold there 1SS and in the future will replace with a 1SS 1LE when the market comes back down. As much as I want to profit now and then either upgrade to a 2SS or ZL1/E in the future, what if the markets doesn't come down and that's the new price of cars due to inflation?

Eh..stupid fears in me but still have another month to decide what to do. My buyout is 24k My offer was 43k. On paper....sell, emotions...dont sell lol.

Edit...also I only have 21k miles on the car...so even if I could do a lateral transition to another car similar in price no way will it be with same mileage! ahh

Sell the car. It would be foolish not too. We all miss the cars but you will find another that you will love just as much, if not more. We can't always let our emotions help themselves to our wallets.

You'll have just under $27k into this car with the lease payments, that is not calculating any money down/potential equity that you had added into the deal. You are able to recoup some of that now, turning your initial bad financial decision into a great one. ~$700/mo (again, without knowing if there is any additional money involved) is a HORRIBLE lease deal on a sub $50k car..its actually laughable. If you sell, that brings you effective payment (paid) to be in the $300's per month...that is a stupid deal for that car.

You can walk away with a giant smile on your face, because you came out a winner. You'll have cash in your pocket, and a considerable amount of money for a down payment (in the event that you wish to purchase another toy).

You don't mention what year model your car is, but, based on the $43k offer, it must be a fairly late model. That being the case, 21k miles is not low mileage, not by a long shot. These cars are weekend toys for lots of folks. There are far more under 10k mile examples than over 20k.
If you're worried about not being able to find a car with comparable mileage in a few months, I don't think that will be an issue at all.[/QUOTE]

Not necessarily true. 21k miles is still low for a 2018 Camaro. Again, these are Camaro's that we are discussing here.. not Ferrari's. The value is not increased by "saving" some mileage on the car, you are only screwing yourself in the end.

Agreed. My neighbor has a 5th Gen and hardly ever drives it. Says he wants to keep the miles low for resale. I told him the same thing you said. We respectfully disagreed with each other.

I will for the life of me never understand buying and parking a car. I know lots of people do it but not me, I remember the guy in Maryland that bought the Lambo, he would even drive it to the 7-11 for snacks, he was awesome. Drove that thing everywhere!

Yeah me too Fran and never will understand it. I have a longtime friend that used to do that with his cars and he always told me he wanted to keep mileage down and not get them dirty after spending hours detailing them. Personally I drive my ZL1 and will continue to because I’m paying for it and want to get enjoyment driving the car and not leave it in pristine shape for someone else to own and drive.

Not every one that buys one needs to drive it. I now have a whopping 880 miles on my 2021 1LE because I was able to take it out Sunday for a ride finally. I ordered it and got it back in October of 2020. My 2001 Mecham Trans Am has 3,800 miles on it now. There are people like me who would love to get out and drive them more but family obligations, kids etc hold them back. I am just lucky that I am able to have these cars as my toys and my hobbies. I do realize not every one is able to do that. So not everyone is saving them for resale value. There are other reasons for some of us.

It is the truth, to some degree, whether people care to admit it or not. Granted, this is assuming you are able to maintain a decent overall condition of the car and you're not putting on an excessive amount of miles every year.

I'm usually torn between keeping the car spotless in the garage and taking it down the back road to get splattered with bugs in 0.5 seconds. Back road choice is usually more fun, and I do enjoy a good wash anyway.

Saving your car by not driving it is like not banging your wife to save her for the next guy.

I actually laughed out loud when I read this!
That said, should my wife leave me, it won’t be because I mistreated her....
I provide her with a nice place to live and she has great hygiene. I treat her with the respect she deserves.
If I wanted to bang a car, I’d get common slut like a mustang....

...and truth to be told, by doing this he gets one step closer to a next guy becoming reality. Cars are meant to be driven, pistons and crankshafts properly lubricated.

As I said earlier, IMO the only scenario where selling one's Camaro due to these inflated used car values (apart from not being happy with it, of course) is if one buys nothing, or better yet, invests the proceeds. Even then it's debatable, one can't eat money or drive money, but that's another discussion altogether.
