Header-back exhaust systems...
I found a site that offers a Kooks header-back system and I'm wondering if there are other companies that offer a header-back "all in one" option. I just saw that ARH offers a full system setup as well. I'd also like to hear serious opinions on exhaust setups.
I am partial to the Borla Atak cat-back and axle-back systems because of all of the videos I've seen putting the LT1 exhaust sounds on display, but I also wanna install long tube headers while I got it apart. The possibility of an ARH/Borla combo seems like the road I'm probably going to turn towards but I'm checking all of the research boxes before dropping $3-4k What do y'all think? What are some exhaust setups that you'd recommend that are actual exhaust setups with cats and mufflers. I'm not looking for straight pipe obnoxiousness, but I want the deep/loud sound that everybody here seems to love. Also, is an exhaust upgrade a good first step or should I look at a cam or some other major mod first? Any input would be greatly appreciated. 2017 Camaro 2SS Fifty Edition 6-spd manual Everything is currently stock except lighting upgrades so I'm just getting started with this |

I'm running TSP 1 7/8 headers, factory mid into MBRP axleback. I'm a big fan of mbrp personally because they always nail the deep, aggressive tone without raspiness. I have little to no drone. I'd do a cat back from them mainly bc their price is great and the sound is killer as well.

If I were you, I would go find a good shop around your place and have them make you something from the headers to the cat-back. In my opinion buying the rest from a company is generally a waste of money unless your shop tries to charge you out wazoo. They are just pipes in that area.

Check out Stainless Works https://stainlessworks.net/by-vehicl...016-21-camaro/
Had a pretty good conversation with them at LSFest, came home and ordered my exhaust. I was originally going to get a Borla but you can get so much more from SW for the price and the sound is great. I would also recommend ARH. We've installed a couple of them now and have been pretty happy with the quality and sound.

I wouldn't do a exhaust system that doesn't retain NPP function. These cars get stupid loud with any exhaust mods from the cats forward. I have cat delete pipes going into Borla 60608 which ties into a Corsa NPP and it's amazing. I can drive down the highway with the valves closed and barely tell the engine is running. No exhaust noise over powering the stereo at all. I had a full kooks TD system from the headers back on my 4th gen Fbody and it sounded good but it wore you out after a while. 110db+ exhaust full time gets old.
Edit* Listen to the yellow 6th gen in this vid. This is why you don't want MBRB with cat less headers.

If you're doing KOOKs stay with their system all the way to the axle back part. You can have them custom make the length of the rear pipes which will keep you from having to do custom exhaust work. I have AWE for my axle back and the rear pipes from KOOKs are 1.25" longer than their standard. This keeps the system clean looking.
