Dashcam question

So I've seen ppl ask about Dashcams here and I notice one of the ones that gets recommended a lot is the thinkware F800? Pro or something like that. My question is what about the newer models such as the 4k Thinkware U1000? Also Camro windshield isn't all that big would that camera be compatible or fit in the windshield without covering your too much? (I mean I already have a phone mount on the windshield after all), according to the camera description:

"There is no display, but the U1000 is still quite large. This should be fine in most cases, but some modern vehicles now have large forward-facing camera and sensor rigs of their own, located close to the rear view mirror. This could make it tricky to place the U1000 in the optimal position on your windscreen."

Sooo would the Camaro windshield fall under "Tricky placement"?

I use this in my Camaro it is easy to setup and easy to use. The Quality and night vision is excellent no complaints. You will need a micro sd card though. https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-A119-16...s%2C181&sr=8-3

I have this dashcam in all three of my vehicles, it is easy to install and if you get the GPS mount, it records speed and position and you can choose the overlay that is on the video. Records outside and the interior. If you get the hardwire kit it will record 24/7 detect motion and sound. All you have to do is insert an SD card, and when it gets full it will automatically write over the old videos so you don't have to worry about it getting full.

I bought the Thinkware Q800PRO. Got a great deal just before Christmas. It's "only" 2K resolution, but I think that's sufficient. It's mounted with the lens just below the dot matrix and most of the camera body in the dot matrix, in front of the rear view mirror. It is completely out of my vision while I'm driving. The U1000 might need to be mounted slightly lower, but it should still be mostly out of sight from the driver's seat (unless you're really short).

I have the U1000 in my Camaro. I have it mounted right below the rear view mirror and you cant even really see it while driving. If you have the Built in video recorder from GM it would probably be in the line of sight though. One issue I do have with the camera is when the car voltage is cut back by the fuel savor or whatever GM calls it, the camera goes into parking mode. I used the OBD quick connect though so that's probably the issue. I will be hard wiring it in the near future. The camera itself is great.

I have the A119 v1 in my truck - had it for about five years. Works really well overall and very good image quality. Over time, Viofo has pushed new firmware for it and it has even helped with some of the image quality even getting better. The newer iterations are largely the same unit with some small mods, I believe.

My biggest issue with it has been nighttime images because I live in an area with no street lights on many of the secondary roads. The images it gets are very good, but there's a noticeable "tunnel view" from the headlights illuminating things.

I'm guessing that's the A129 Pro? I'm looking to grab the A129 Pro Duo (which includes the HD rear cam) if it ever goes on sale.

ok so I ended up getting the Thinkware U1000 and a mini external battery. But I have a question regarding hardwiring. Usually people mount the cam in the windshield (of course) and the radar accessory right next to the cam then the mini battery is usually mounted under the drivers seat in most pictures Ive seen. My question is if its hardwired how do you keep those wires out of the way if the Camaro has its fuses in the trunk (right) and not in the front near the drivers side wheel/seat like most other cars?

You could do it a couple different ways. You could run the wires to the front of the car via the door sills and pass through the fire wall to the front fuse box in the engine bay. Or run them to the rear of the car on the drivers side via the door sills and tuck them under the side panels until you reach the spare tire well then run them to that fuse box. This is how I am running mine.
