When you find a ZL1 for a decent price you won’t get 43k for your SS....

Camaro demand and prices were on the rise starting back in December. I wanted to upgrade my really nice V6, M6 2016 Camaro to a V8, manual. I shopped hard for a new 1SS or LT1 (with MPP) and the prices were really high. The best I could do was about 38,500 for a LT1- the local Chevy dealer found it in NC at a sister dealership. Looking back now, it probably was not a bad price. I end up opting for a used C6 Corvette Convertible, manual with only 28K miles on it which I nabbed for 26K. If I had to do it over and knowing what I know now about prices and availability I would have opted for the LT1. But I love the C6 and I got more for a trade in on my 2016 Camaro V6 than I paid for it in 2019. And I got my V8 manual.

I also have a new 2021 new Bronco reserved- which I reserved July 2020, right after the debut. But what I thought is that the build and distribution of them would be by reservation #. It is unfortunately not. It is dictated by priority and dealer allocation. I am not a priority order and my dealer has way more orders than allocations. So it won't come in until 2022 or even 2023. The good news in that my price is locked from the reservation date and stamp. And with all of the demand and prices still going up, I'll be able to hopefully sell it and make 2 or 3K on it in this crazy market.

Dang really? For a run of the mill auto... No way would I wait for that. You have far more patience then me. I don't think there is any vehicle made that I'd want bad enough to wait 1-2 years for it.

I was seriously dealing on a 21 Forte GT 6M in MD just last week. I offered $4.5K off MSRP plus title tax tag and fees and my offer was flatly rejected. The dealer countered with an above MSRP price, not even allowing the total rebate to be deducted. Their reasoning was they can’t get cars due to the chip shortage and they need to manage their inventory. If you can buy for $21K I would jump now and definitely not wait...

Carmax offered me $35,600 for my LT1. Have no intentions to sell it was just curious.

So if Vroom is offering to buy them at this price, how are they making a profit if they're not turning around and selling them for more than that?

Dealers always mark a car up at least $2k more than they buy it for or else they wouldn't be in business.

The dealer bought my car at a very good price. So they think they will sell it.

You know, I do have a question...

Has anyone took the Carmax, Vroom, Etc.. up on their offer? I just wonder if they do not come back and say

"100 off for this scratch, 500 off for this ding, 500 off because the tires," so really we are not giving you 45K but 42K or whatever.

How sneaky is it, or is it legit?

I would think in the current market they would take it. As others have said if you want to cash in you would need to sell their SS now and wait for the market to adjust back and see inventory on the lots again. I thought about selling mine just because I could get more than I paid but, I would be without a toy for a while and I don't really know what I would want more than my SS right now.

They are building inventory. The used car market is going to be FLOODED by the end of summer when most of the country are looking for 4x4s, not camaros. Then values will plummet.
