If you are dead set on a particular spec, and I was too, just order the car and wait.
Back in 2010, my small dealer had some trouble getting an allocation for an SS. So I waited and waited and almost slid into the next model year. But eventually I got exactly the car I wanted, made two weeks before the end of 2010 production. |

Right, at this point you'd be behind everyone that ordered something while production was shutdown. even with the plant starting up next week, I think the 2021 production is set to end in June. OP might consider waiting for the 2022 order process to open up, which i think is at end of May? that production starts in July. I know its a while to wait, but its a thought.
For me, i started thinking about putting an order in back in November of '20. Finally pull the trigger on Jan 11, and it was built on Mar 3 (12 days before plant shutdown), and i took delivery on the Mar 19.

No one should be holding their breath on what a dealer says. Production is very fluid and these microchips go into a bunch of stuff that will get first dibs before cars.
I would not be surprised to see assembly lines idle through the summer. Or, if they do restart production, more cars will be stock piled waiting for parts. You may very well see empty dealer lots for a while, and dealers laying off sales people and closing before a single new Camaro - 2021 or 2022 model - shows up from Lansing. |

My dealer wants me to order now... but from my understanding if the order is in as a 21 and if isn’t made it doesn’t automatically get pushed through as a 22... do I wait out and hope something in my spec pops up out of the final 2021 batch or do I order as a 22 and sit back and wait for god knows how long.... just sold my scatpack today don’t know how long I can survive with my beater daily..

The car selection is slim especially how you want yours to be so I would order a 2022 and wait it out. You can get on some of the car selling sites and do searches to see what is available but I doubt you will find one with the options/color you want. Good luck!

That is what happened to mine, so order ASAP if you are doing so. I technically ordered a 2020 but came in as a 2021. |
