With that offer, there is no real incentive for me. I doubt I would do it for $5K.

$1000 and a C8 rental, then maybe.

As it is, they can go kick rocks.

Tell them you want $5000 cash and a month with a C8 including full insurance and complete liability waiver (so if you wipe it out at the track you’re completely free and clear), and a gas card for it.

I would just tell them you aren't interested, or a simple no, thank you.

GM...(or gm) seems to have very little to do with your car, per se. ATDS is the vendor handling everything...I would look into them. Good luck.

Well that’s no fun

When someone wants something from you you always push the limit to see what they’ll give you in return

Well, if you don't want anyone messing with your car, why care about what type of loaner you would get?

If they actually give you all that, they really want your car and they’re going to take really good care of it

This makes no sense. Why would they need to test YOUR vehicle? Why not grab a car from a dealer instead?

Seems fishy.

The op should demand a new letter with the correct gm logo to replace the micro-aggressive, planet destroying all caps old GM logo....lol...That original letter needs to be cancelled.

This is not a scam or fishy. ALL OEMs are required to test vehicles in service at 'low mile' and 'high mile' intervals. This is a regulatory requirement from EPA & ARB. Typically these kind of letters would be sent out to customers that meet the mileage criteria in the Michigan area (or California). This is not something that's new - it's been done for a long time.

They will NOT put 500 miles on your vehicle. It would be run through the standard emission cycles on a chassis dyno (mostly light load testing). I think actually all of the testing would be conducted in the lab environment (chassis rolls) for this specific testing.

These are the test cycles they would use (except for the cold temp cycle): https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/fe_test_schedules.shtml
