I have three Third Gen Camaro's and of those, one has t-tops. It is pretty much a garage queen, but they have never leaked. Rattle...yep, but a pair of subframe connectors takes care of that easily. As a few others have said, cruising with those t-tops out is absolutely fantastic and takes me back to when I was just out of high school (1991) and drove a similar IROC-Z. When I ordered my LT1, did not care for the sunroof, but if t-tops where an option, I definitely would have checked that box when I ordered it.

You either had them leaking or when it was sunny, you got sunburnt on any drive longer than 15 minutes.

t-tops are one of those things that kinda looks cool (and i had two generations of camaros with them), but are utter garbage in practical use.

Maybe pre 1998 cars but my 98 did not leak and had sunshades. I had them and love them.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. Both my 84 and 89 lived through rain/snow/sun without ever leaking. Neither were garage queens and both were actually daily drivers.

My ‘95 Z28 and 2001 SS had T-Tops, and loved them. Sunroofs aren’t the same.

I had 3 Gen4 TTop Firebird/Camaros. And I did like them, no leaks. But I rarely took them out.

So now it is Sunroofs for me. I can jump in the Camaro and with a touch of a button I get the sun and air. I also like the same rgidity as a no roof Camaro and with only a 30 pound penalty. And when parked in the sun you can crack the roof for a cooler reentry.

TTops made those earlier Fbodies a little more wobbly with the roof rails cut out. And taking the panels out, storing them, and putting them back in was a PIA.

I had a 1970 Vette with T tops. I loved them. They didnt really leak. Just a slight bit. But the windshield leaked. Water would run down in front of me.
I had a 1969 427 convertible Vette. The top did not leak. But the firewall did somewhere. It would leak right on my clutch foot.
Had a 65 Vett convertible.... Lightly cammed... Hooker side pipes... everything leaked. Rattled... or was worn somehow... No heat or defrosters. Loud as hell...probably the most fun car I ever had.
But if you totaled all the money I had in all of them together you wouldnt reach 20 grand. Got at least what I paid for them in the end and mostly enjoyed them.
But things are too expensive now to leak... And too complex to handle being wet all the time.
On the Vettes I never had a full hard top but I never felt the handling suffered.
Some other convertibles we had were pretty beat by the time we got them. 67 442.. 70 442... They were rags. Ran great but were ripped leaking ill handling rattletraps...I prefer a full hard top... No moon roofs none of that. But the wife loves a vert.... so here we are...

Tran Am Depot

There is a company in Florida that does Trans Am conversion on the modern Camaro that includes T-tops. I generally am not a fan of cutting holes in cars coming from an Autobody back ground, as they always tend to leak and/or rust at some point. However, after seeing how they perform the conversion, it looks to be well designed and executed.

My 2002 SS with T-Tops has never leaked since the day I owned it. Keep the area clean around the seal and lubricate the weather stripping.

Done...

I think that's the key with them, keeping the seals soft and supple keeps them tight.
