Use the Range device. Absolutely love mine. Makes a perceptible difference in driving experience with minimal sacrifice to gas mileage.

In my opinion, even people who say they never feel the AFM kick on or off will feel the difference.

That is the prevailing opinion that I have heard about the range device. Is it easy for a yo-yo like me to put it in?

If you can plug something into a fitting socket, you'll be all right, that's all it takes

It plugs into the OBD2 port so it's very easy.

The only thing is that if you have something powering off of OBD2 like Valentine One SAVVY, then you would have to find another way to power it, unless you get an OBD2 splitter, which I am not sure if it will work well with Range device.

Thanks guys. Well if and when my car is delivered, that will be my first add on! I’ve wanted a Camaro since 1969 Z 28, so waiting a few more week (months?) will be ok!

The Range AFM delete along with the Soler throttle control are two inexpensive and super-easy to install items that will really put a fine polish on the driving experience with these cars.

Does the range AFM delete just control the AFM valves from closing without getting cel? or does it actually stop the AFM V4 mode from happening? V4 mode is just awful, and driving in manual mode all the time is no fun either. I already have my AFM motors secured under the car with the plates attached with 3000 miles of no cel , did this to get ready for what ever way I decide to shut AFM off.

I could feel the AFM engage on my A8 and did not like it. it has no place in a performance vehicle- along with the pesky "skip shift" bullshit I had and disabled on my previous SS M6.

I tuned it out with my Diablo tuner....which no one seems to like here but it has worked well for me. The car performs much better without the AFM.

As a footnote, my Jeep GC 2012 5.7 Hemi has the AFM. The tune in that vehicle [also from the same Diablo] also my daily driver is phenomenal. In 2012 the transmissions were not locked out and a transmission tune was also included. Made my jeep feel like an SRT. However, with the AFM tuned out, it always threw a code so I had to leave it in.

My observation is the AFM in the jeep is seamlessly much better than in GM technology. I actually kind of like it and, in that model, you can deactivate it all together by pressing the "tow/haul" button.

Has anyone here noticed the difference in the AFM technology of GM compared to Chrysler or even Ford, for that matter?

I read where range taps battery and you have to take it out each time or you’ll drain battery. Dude said he was hoping they would create an On and Off switch. Does Diablo have on and off switch? Be a pain in the butt to take in and out of the car every day.

Range says this is only a problem when you don't start it for several days to a week. For daily or frequent use, no problems. They have apparently reduced the amount it pulls when the car is off. You can get an ODB II extension cable with an inline on/off switch. Very happy with my Range.

I rented a Challenger with a Hemi in 2018 and I thought the AFM mode on it was terrible compared to my Camaro. Very jerky and intrusive.
