-3 for the high. Plus it’s windy today, -18 with wind chill. -27 for a low Monday morning...

I did look at it in the shop a little bit ago.

2 more months!

We’ll have to get together for a cruise.

Not really that much fun in my neck woods, minus 7 f this morning and this is my front yard, since the wind stream dips all that cold Canadian air across the lake so we get the lake effect.
That and no 4wd option I stay in my truck till April

No kidding.

Coming home today after a dusting last night in sub zero temps & turning onto my road the i4wd Highlander began to slide at 15mph turning a corner.

I highly doubt my Z would even be able to get moving under its own volition after sliding down my 2% grade driveway.

Some people just don’t understand the reality of a real winter.

But my car is a garage queen & Im a big wimp for not testing my luck on insanely slippery snow covered roads.

Camaro as a Daily Driver in the North East

So...been driving Camaro's as my daily driver since 2011 ('10/'14/'20). All had some type of All Season tire for the winter driving. Finally bought a set of spare rims on the cheap for $250 and mounted a set of good All Season tires for the winter to swap out. Always make it to work and have a blast.

This pic is from last Monday's storm (2/1/2021) when we got 18"+ over 30 hours with extreme drifting. This was the middle of the storm - we eventually closed a few hours later but only 5 of 55 employees came to work. I bust my employees chops when I make it in and they call out (most drive one form or another of Subies/All Wheel Drive SUVs or trucks). Winter Driving Skills - you either have them or you stay home!
BTW - have just hit 950 miles...another 550 to go before I can really jump on it and have some fun...ah the joys of living close to work and getting 2-3 weeks on a tank of gas!

I like how everyone is suggesting get de-icer and winter blankets like they actually sell that stuff in Central Texas

I've never even seen a can of de-icer until I spent some time in Seattle WA.

This is my fourth Camaro in a row. (2013,2015,2018,2021) I purchased a snow tire package from The Tire Rack (great people to work with) and I have never gotten stuck in the snow. Caution in driving on snow is also highly advised. My coworkers are amazed that even on days when the office is nearly empty, I get to work and there is my SS in midst of all the SUVs and pickups.

Why? Mrgoodwrench and I get to spend all 12 months out of the year hooning around and enjoying our cars. This ain't the corvette forum - we don't need to store our "one of one hundred" cars and only take them out in the perfect sunshine to the local cars and coffee and back home. 😁

Slather the paint with some good sealant, rinse off the salt when you can, and send it. 455hp turns into an awful lot more when the temps drop below 40! I'd say you're the one missing out, haha!

Man Im glad to see all the DDs in here out in the snow. We just picked up our vert the first week in January. A good time to buy a convertible Camaro.
We got just under 500 miles on when the weather turned to more snow than weve seen here in a good 8 years. I could only get an inexpensive cover but I covered her up and the wife has continued driving the Infinity until the lease is up end of March.
I did the wheel and tire package from Tire Rack as well. Got the Vredestiens in 18x245 all around. Im pretty confident shell do fine in the snow. The wife is a great driver and starting out in second with some sand or something in the trunk.. with the electronics Im not to worried. Her commute is 6 miles and if its bad she can work from home.
The salt though!!! NJ loves their salt. I hate the salt.
Today Im going to pull the cover and run her for a while. The covers been on for 2 weeks. Im a bit concerned about battery drain sitting out in the cold for weeks so I need to see her start and run for half an hour. Then its back under the cover for at least another week because more crap is coming in this afternoon. Ice/snow/snain... for the next 3 days...
I saw the wreck there in Texas because of this ice. Thats scary stuff there. Ice on the road is the worst. Really no vehicle can operate on ice without studs. Even then its a gamble.
One thing Im in the market for is a cover thats just the top. Ive seen them for Vetts. Windshield to trunk... door handle to door handle. Im thinking of having a boat canvas company make me one. I think it would be easy to use and keep the top fresh longer.

Another thing I always do with my cars and trucks is spray all the door and window rubber with spray silicone. It keeps them in good shape and makes it unlikely they will ice shut. It also eliminates occasional door squeaks.

One, I was joking.

2, hey, it’s a free coun... eerrrr, I mean, if you want to drive your cars in the winter, more power to you. Now, if you’re out in really bad weather, you could be the best driver in the world, but anything can happen. You share the roads with other that at anytime your existences can become, well, intertwined.

It’s great you only have a few miles to work, but I learned a long time ago, no job is worth dying for.

So..I do understand that some people store their cars for the winter for their reasons - which is good for them - they put their money into the winter vehicle to drive. My wife is a teacher so she never drives in the poor weather due to the career choice that allows fo rsnow days. Unfortunately I chose Operations/Manufacturing, so just about every company I have worked for never shuts down unless the road are closed by our local/state governments - so snow is just snow...with the right tires there are no issues...with the wrong tires these cars will go nowhere...

I have been driving in NY since I got my drivers licence back in the days before front wheel drive cars were readily available - circa 1981 lol. Since then I have commuted 40 miles one way more regularly, regardless of weather, here in Orange County NY. I am currently fortunate to have a 2 mile commute now with plans on being in a warmer climate within the next 2 years - hence the new convertibles. I used to take our kids to work when it snowed and such.

I am sure there are others on here who do the same as I do - travel to/from work. Rather than buy a winter vehicle...my wife and I are the reverse - we have a summer vehicle that we use and store over the winter! It is all about what everyone's individual priorities/opportunities are. We love boating...so thats where we dump the extra $$$. Summer time fun - we call her - SKOOLS OUT.

I hope everyone enjoys their hobbies as much as we do - whatever they are!

Someone asked about the windshield cover - it is a heavy duty winter windshield cover from Cover King. It is water resistant and has a soft microfiber type material that lays against the windshield. Since I do drive in the winter months and I have to travel around our site during my shift to check on my team (2 different building ) it is handy to throw it on the car so I don't have to clean the windshield every time I move about the site.
