So, is there a consensus on how much fluid the Z diff uses? I see the manual state 1.2 quarts, which is the same as the SS. When I changed the fluid in my SS, it started to trickle out the fill hole, right at 1.2 quarts. I did the Z today and I was pumping and pumping and ended up putting in close to 1.5 quarts. Nothing came out the fill hole and the car was level.

I thought about draining out the couple extra ounces, but figured it would do no harm. The manual states the volumes are estimates... which puts a bit of a spin on this as well.

Any thoughts on this good / bad? (Now that I’m second guessing myself)

Basically you fill until it comes out the fill hole.

Maybe there was residual fluid left over? Don't know what else to tell you

SS 1LE/ZL1 diff is the same. 1.6qts. The convertible has different diff, so the capacity may be different there.

My ZL1 1LE took approximately 1.5 qts of rear differential fluid before it began to trickle out of the fill hole. That was 3700 miles ago and all is well. The 1.2 qts is an estimate.

My conversion from ounces to quarts was off a bit (used 2 part full containers) I added closer to 1.3 quarts, with a recommended fill for the Z vert being 1.2 quarts. I’m going to call it good. Thanks everyone.
