I don't think you'll have one, but it wpould be a tube that plugs into your intake downpipe (the pipe form your airbox to the engine) and then plugs into the firewall somewhere. And correct, they became common circa 2010 or so? I remember my dad's '10 GT had one.

The sound tube ( an approx 1 1/2 inch round tube) is plugged into the rubber air intake snorkel close to the throttle body connection and goes all the way back to the firewall on the drivers side of the engine. The noise or sound is like having a opening or leak in any firewall seal. Remove it for better real sound of the engine and it cleans up the engine compartment.

2021 with sound tube here. It's coming off as soon I can scrounge up the appropriate plugs.

Complete Sound Tube for sale- $10 + shipping. It makes a tremendous difference in the perceived sound of your exhaust inside the car (sounds great!). I couldn't believe Chevy got this past the DOT sound limitations when I first bought the car.
I've since upgraded the exhaust and took the tube off. I'm trying to clear out the garage. You can have for cheap or I'm just gonna discard it. Drop me a PM if interested! Also need to lose the OE red tail lights and 3rd brake light, OE sway bars ('17 SS Camaro), side marker lights, OE 87mm TB. First offer that makes it worth a drive to UPS store... I know I should be in classifieds, but strike while the iron's hot as they say! Last edited by Ventmaster; 01-30-2021 at 11:57 AM. |

Had me curious, no sound tube on my 2021 2ss 1le. It has a opening on top of the intake tube near the tb that is plugged, and appears to be a tube bracket drivers side to hold the sound tube they didn’t take off. No idea where on firewall it would go. No place at all visible.
All good! |

If your car did not come with one of these and you don't expect to change the stock exhaust and you'd like to surprise a passenger or two... you should add one. It makes a surprising increase in full throat acceleration sound inside the car (especially when you're in traffic to reflect sound back to your car)- does not change the level outside, but you can't tell inside the car... it just sounds good (and mean!).
Check the back firewall for an opening under the black felt in an almost straight line back from the spark plugs (driver's side). I tried to add a couple pics to help locate it, but my desktop has updated and now I can't do shite! If you've got one and Chevy has simply plugged your intake opening (as in FarmerFran's car), I'm betting it is cheaper to plug and just cover the hole than doing away with it. I'll try again with the pics- sorry. BTW- this is not just a hose to carry sound into the cabin. It's got diaphragms and other components to protect you from fumes/ carbon monoxide, etc... |

I was just at the dealer ordering my 2021 LT1 this morning, they had a 2021 there and I popped the hood, no sound tube on it.
