Really stupid question

2019 A10 ZLE

Is the anti-skid braking system part of TCS,
or a separate system ?

It's a separate system called StabiliTrak that you can enable/disable somewhat separately from traction control (TCS), as you can have them both on/off or TCS off and StabiliTrak on, but you can't have TCS on and StabiliTrak off as far as I know. You also have a bunch of performance traction management submodes that will impact both to varying extents.

I may have been unclear....Stabilitrak , ESC by another name is basically disabled in PTM, Sport 2 and race... are you saying anti skid braking is part of Stabilitrak(ESC) ?

And If you are in track driving mode, you can disable both ESC and TC by holding the TC BUTTON down for 5 seconds .... going by memory, and not looking at the chart..

To be clear, what you are referring to as anti-skid braking, is actually called anti-lock braking system, or ABS. TCS and stabilitrack do access this. Unless something has changed recently, none if it is ever 100% totally off. Always a nanny gremlin lurking in there somewhere.

I was a little loose on my terminology. As best as I can tell , none of the drive modes , or ptm modes disable ABS....

It appears as a stand alone system, but ECS and TCS share some of the components....where’s a GM engineer when you need one ?
Lol !
