I appreciate all of the advice. The rule of thumb I use is that if I have to drive over snow between my garage and the street, then the Camaro and Harley stay put. But I am currently shopping for tires and will definitely NOT be replacing them with the GY SC3. I loved them in San Diego since the car is just for fun but it's just too cold here too often for them. I don't really need a winter tire since it is still not a daily but still debating a little what to buy. I was set on the Michelin PS4S but not sure. I'm thinking they may still be a little too "performance-y".

the tires on you 1le cant be driven on below 40deg. they cant even be stored under 20deg. you will need snow tires if you drive it in the snow. all seasons if you only drive it on dry pavement.

Anti freeze in the manual I believe says to use “Dex-Cool”
That’s what I use not regular antifreeze. Washer fluid you can buy it with de-Icer in it

I too moved from the south with no snow to a cold weather city to Milwaukee and here they throw a lot of salt in the winter and its shocking to see how quickly salt destroys cars. I will not take my Camaro out in the snow or when there is salt on the ground period, I have a winter daily for that. I will however drive it if its clear, no salt, and freezing. The 3S tires are not that bad when its cold as long as your not racing it around.
Having said all that, I don't hassle people for driving their Camaros in the snow, to each their own. |

Here in Jersey I run the RainX winter windshield fluid. Good to 20 below. Also keeps the windshield clearer than the regular stuff. Its orange. Run the washers until it runs orange or as above it will freeze in the tubes. And worse all over your windshield.
I run Valvoline full synth 5w30 in all my vehicles in all seasons. Our vert is new so I havnt changed the rear or tranny oils yet. Im looking at Redline synth for gear oils due to them working exceptionally in my bikes. I would also consider Amsoil or lucas. Top of the line gear oil regardless of cost as they are not dumped as often. We rarely get deep snow here but it does happen. The vert is the wifes daily driver. I am swapping out the stock goodyear eagles immediately for Conti extreme contact DWS 06s, as all season. Although depending how things work out I may seek out an additional set of stock wheels. So I can run 4 square and put dedicated winter tires on the 4 front rims and all season on the 4 rear rims. Havnt had the car long enough to make any moves yet though. But the tires will be swapped this week with 60 miles on the clock. Its already in the 20s here at night. I dont want my wife getting scared of the car over sliding around on summer tires in the cold. |

I used to live in a colder climate. Winter time I had a beater. RWD V8 in crappy weather was a nightmare and joyless. Trickle charger and garaged.

I know, old thread. OP has probably got it all figured out by now. But, I like to put HEET in my windshield washer fluid as it will keep it from freezing, also helps to cut the ice. I've lived in MN for 60 years now and the -20 below stuff just does not cut it in January.
