Okay, yeah I realized that some areas seriously lack LT1s. There is literally like 3 - 4 LT1s per dealer in my area within 100 miles. That's about 20 - 30 LT1s.

I don't follow production numbers, but there was an insane lease special on the LT1 that ended on 1/4/21. That is likely why you can (and the OP) can't find (m)any in stock.

Yeah, I don't know where his area is... but the LT1's are about as rare as the other V8 Camaro's, especially if you're looking for a third pedal. That one down at Ray's (IL) is one of the nearest that I had found for me. I was toying with the idea of picking one up as a lease if I could get into it cheap enough. Ray's offered an OK deal, but not good enough.

The order doesn't go in until you've all agreed to ALL of the terms... Sit down and negotiate price as well as contingencies on the order. Right now, lead times are likely in the 2-3 month range, so you would want to understand all of that up front and possibly be able to include a line item that either drops your purchase price by a certain amount or refunds your deposit if the order doesn't arrive by a certain date. All negotiations are FINISHED when you sign the contract (and you never give money without a signed contract).

On the other hand, you can also use Chevy's info as mentioned already to locate possible cars that you could just go buy yourself. With a new car, you can easily do a "fly and drive" sort of deal. When I bought mine last year, I was prepared to fly pretty much anywhere in the country to get the car I wanted because it was optioned very specifically to my liking (including an M6). When I realized that the exact car I wanted literally didn't exist, I removed one item from my list of must-have things and found one at a dealer 140 miles from my house. Drove my truck out there with a trailer and dragged it home. Did the entire deal over the phone and signed the papers when I got there.

They are not necessarily lying. In order for a dealer to do a swap, BOTH dealers have to have something in inventory they are willing to part with that the other wants and can sell. And there are dealerships that have very good relationships with each other and those that don't. Some dealerships simply don't do trades because they have destroyed the relationships with all of the other dealers that they've traded with in the past by doing things like trading cars with damage that they knew about. There's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes when it comes to trades...

It also has to be profitable for them to do the trade. They aren't going to spend a bunch of money on the runners and such to do all of the work to get the car and then sell it at the bottom end of the price scale.

Just because a dealer says they can't get a specific car doesn't mean it's a lie... There's a LOT more that goes into swaps than most people know.

I was going to get one and went to my local Chevy dealer. They did not want to seem to work that hard at it- found only one- a color too dark for me. They claimed no dealers are doing swaps right now. They priced it out and it seemed very high and I had to pay an extra $750 charge for transporting it from up north. I also read that car and truck inventory is so low it's a very bad time to buy it being a sellers market. Little if any discounts or rebates to be had.

So I opted out, will keep driving my 2016 V6. I don't dislike it enough to over pay right now.

I also think it's the dealers here in SWFL. Since moving back here 5 years ago it seems dealers either only want to carry the V6 model Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers, OR if they do carry a v8 it's a fully loaded up convertible. My county they seem to only like carrying v6 and if you see a new GT or Camaro it's fully loaded.

Here in Charlotte County as well as Sarasota county the dealers seem to favor big cars like SUVs, trucks, or big sedans for the old people.

It seems Mustang GTs are easier to find new and used here in southwest FL. The Ford dealers in Naples and Ft. Myers carry a better selection of Mustang GTs.

I think the Camaro selection is simply because they're not selling so dealers of course don't want to fill their lots with a bunch of SS Camaros but the production issues were a factor too.

But in the Orlando, Winter Haven, and Tampa area when I was looking back in Sept they had plenty of LT1s and SS new for sale still so for that reason I do think it's a regional thing too.

I was lucky I got a great deal on my 2016 SS back in Sept. Very hard to beat.

Correct about the rebates too. I do notice Chevy in general has crappier deals compared to Ford.

Should have been looking a few months ago. Jenkins in Venice had 4 left over 2020 1ss for really good prices with dealer incentives included. Nearly the same price as an LT1.

I doubt the inventory is going to get much better for the Camaro since sales were so lousy last year dealers are not going to want to stock up on them.

Agreed!
When I ordered my LT1 I did see a few LT1s that were more than a 2SS. Most of that was silly expensive appearance, wheel, and spoiler options. I did pay a pretty price for Bose, Recaros, sunroof and NPP. But to me all those options were worth it. I paid around $38K for the LT1. However I am sure an SS will hold it's value a little better. But since I plan to keep mine, my kids can sell it when I no longer need it. Thay may wish I bought an SS. However a used LT1 in the 20s will be an extreme performance bargain for a lucky owner.

I will say though If I could have gotten the Bose with the 1SS I would have been tempted.....

Well, the LT1 and SS (camaro6) are bargains when you think of it. 0-60 4 seconds and quarter mile times low 12s. Just 6 years ago you had to buy something like a Corvette or an euro to get those numbers. Once super car numbers are now more affordable with the Mustang GT, Camaro SS and the Scatpack.

If in SWFL, definitely check the Tampa Bay area for LT1s. There are a few dealer around Tampa/Clearwater/St. Pete that have them and are interested in selling them nicely discounted. I leased mine (as the current leases are too good to resist).

True! When I was looking back in sept before I settled on my 2016 used 2ss I was looking in the Tampa area and I4 area around Lakeland, Orlando, Plant City area as well and noticed quite a bit more Camaros and Mustangs too up there and prices were better.

As I said here in Southwest FL the dealers like to carry the v6 models or fully loaded convertibles that are sky high priced. Dealers here like to carry bigger SUVs, trucks and large sedans. Cater to the older folks down here.

I'm in metro Detroit (Northville) and I got my manual LT1 from Burt Watson Chevy in Freeland, MI. It's about 2 hour drive up I-75, but they delivered to car to my home in a covered trailer. They were the best price and best dealer I worked with in the whole midwest, as I was searching as far as Kentucky (Cincy area) for a manual LT1.

PM me for my salesman name, he was great.

LT1 cars are around NW IN. Sadly most have stupid options on them where it no longer makes sense to get a LT1...
