As for whether the car will be worth 64% in 39 months......I seriously doubt it. But, when leasing, inflated residuals are helpful. Its best to try and lease cars that have a contractual residual that is unrealistic. Of course, if one thinks they want to keep a car for 5-10 years, its probably better to buy. If one is not sure, leasing can be attractive. The sales tax alone on a buy is a big cost that is lost if the car isn't held for some time (and in most states, FL is one), only the monthly payment is taxed on a lease not the sales price of the car. So, a $300/mo payment (in FL with 7% tax) equates to $21/mo in taxes and only during the lease term. The fact that the car might have had a few thousand $ in sales taxes on a traditional purchase does not enter into the equation. Last edited by 4sfed4; 12-31-2020 at 07:21 AM. |

I got curious so I checked AT’r for LT1’s, which they don’t have an option for, you have to search LT & look for V8 in the ad. Lame.
Anywho, there was a total of 5 LT1’s & 15 SS’s, all 2SS’s I might add, that are new within 200miles. I really shouldn’t have looked at ZL1’s... that employee discount is taunting me. I found two 21’s for about $65k. |

LT1's pricing and lease options are making them more attractive since the used market went crazy. When the LT1 first was released you could still get ultra low mileage 1SS cars around 31k and new for 38k.
That being said a dealer in Miami Florida has a bunch of LT1's for 30-33k right now. I can get a base M6 delivered for $30,876. Then there is one local to me that has the RS Redline package for 47k lol. Most around me are 36k+...folks in the North must want more options.

I can’t speak for GM, but when I worked for Ford they kept all their promotional stuff under lock & key, at least to sales staff. Management said they didn’t know, maybe they were lying, don’t know. It still makes no sense to me why they would not tell dealer management of impending promotions. If they know 6months in advance they are going to run a promotion then let the dealers have time to get that product on order. Maybe they are doing it to move current inventory before that product comes back around in production rotation. Dunno. Around here I see LT1’s ranging from low 30’s to about $40k. I think that boils down to the person, or persons, doing the ordering. They hopefully have a good ear to the ground on what sells for them. It’s the same in my business. My wife & I take ordering of stock very seriously. It’s a long thought out process. We have to take a plethora of things into consideration before we finalize an order, even then we may revisit something at any time prior to our lock out time & make changes. I’m hopeful auto dealers do the same, but I know for a fact our competitors don’t take the time we do in the order process. So I’m sure this applies to auto dealers as well. |

It was all for the better as I landed one 30 min from my house (St. Petersburg, FL) rather than 5 hours anyway. And, the actual sales price was 11% below MSRP prior to the incentives being applied ($39,475 MSRP and $35,150 sales price). In FL, the lease rebate is only $1500 (other areas are as high as $2250). But, FL is great for dealer fees (sarcasm on) so the apparent MSRP discount gets eaten up by the doc fees, etc. In the end....it doesn't matter how the dealer wants to show their profits. |

EDIT - Going directly to the dealers website, it looks like they are including some "$4000 trade over allowance" business in their advertised price. But, there is probably some wiggle room in any case to allow the possibility of a sweet lease deal. |

I wouldn't pay 36k for a 2017 2ss. 34,000 maybe. I would talk them down if they wanted 36k for a 2017 hard top, no sun roof or mag ride. 36k is too much for 2017. Dealer near me back in sept had a 2017 with Sun roof, automatic and mag ride, NPP, only 28,000 miles and wanted $32,800ish. |

Chevy sucks for rebate deals down here. It seems in general Ford offers better incentives from what I typically see when I was looking. I don't get GM sometimes. Chevy complains about sluggish Camaro sales but doesn't do much to push them or offer incentives. |

It looks like a typical internet price with all rebates stacked, which is not happening for any single person. 4sfed4 found that $4000 of "trade over allowance" is included, see above. That said, it could still be a good deal, just not as smoking hot as it seems.

The smoking LT1 leases are continuing to roll out as a lot of guys and gals grab them in end of year blow outs! A fellow amateur lease finagler just signed one earlier today at $269 a month with 300 and some bucks at signing for a car with an MSRP of $39.5k.
