That’s freakin awesome! What a beautiful machine! I’m sure you are very aware already, but I’ll re-emphasize that extreme caution be given those SC3R tires... I had the unfortunate first hand experience of a sideways slide down the interstate in my ZLE on those tires.. well after a typical tire would have been warm. Very temperature sensitive. Fortunately I was able to quickly ‘catch’ the car by counter steering the car back into a straight line and no harm was done to anyone or anything. Big pucker factor though. When it gives up its grip, it’s immediate and unexpected.

thanks for that and I am definitely aware of cold 3Rs. They are the sketchiest cold tire I have ever driven on.

Love that color. Why did you get a 2nd ZL1, are you planning to sell the other one?

Were you driving with stability control off or throttle input through a turn? Even on 3R in cold (CA so only high 30s to low 40s Jan-feb) I haven’t had that happen with stability on, sometimes downshifting and hard throttle the rear kicks out but ESC always corrects. ZL1 ESC and PTM seem great to me. Below freezing I would never drive on 3R

Not at all. All the nannies were on. The morning temps were 45* and I was simply driving it because it had been sitting for over a month (not my daily driver). I was 20 minutes into the drive when it happened. I changed lanes into the passing lane, gave it gas to pass a car, passed the car, was changing lanes back into the middle lane when it felt like I hit a patch of black ice.. rear end kicked out left as I frantically counter steered to correct. I imagine it appeared like I was ‘Tokyo drifting’ down the highway... the massive 305 front tires still had grip apparently because it snapped back into a straight line and I continued on as if nothing happened.. all happened in seconds.. not fun at all..

Yes, these wheels and tires are coming off and I am putting on a set of Apex wheels wrapped in Michelin PS4S for street duty. The stock wheels and R compound tires will be exclusively for use at VIR and other track days.

Interested to hear your thoughts on ZLE vs ZL1 A10, particularly on track!

BTW, thanks for the input over PM a while back. Got my heat issues resolved, trans was overfilled 1L...by GM. Corrected that and it runs great, so you called it.

So true and it's pretty crazy on the 1st couple of laps at the track too. I continually test and watch tire temps before going full out. After that the 3Rs are awesome.

I have a second set of wheels with PS4s for the street and that works well, but if I ever wear the PS4s out I'll go back with 3Rs so I have extras at the track and just drive careful on the street.

I had a ZL1 with A10 and ZLE M6. My times are almost identical. ZLE with neg camber and track suspension equaled out the A10 benefits.

No doubt the way to go is ZLE + A10 for the best times.

Very nice rides!

They look good side by side in the garage. I like both colors.

Nice, congrats! If I had lots of cabbage, I would definitely have a ZL1 and a ZL1 1LE in the garage. Interested in seeing the lap times you lay down.

I'm going to sell the '17 but have a bunch of little things to swap before I let it go. I have already removed the intercooler reservoir, ported throttle body, etc. Needs rotors replaced, stock brake pads reinstalled, replace stock secondary cat section, and a few minor things.
