I hope they've now accomplished whatever goals they were trying to achieve. I'd like to see that car with a Magnuson 2650R now. I'd bet it would go low 8's right away and could be knocking on the door to 7's eventually.

I'm going to contact them about doing whatever non-engine work they might do to my car. I assume that track was well prepared but they nevertheless managed to pull the front wheels when my car can only dream of doing that. Don't know what role the Carlye Racing 15 inch conversion might play in lower ETs.

I think he was just pointing out how some of these things can seem a bit silly. Like, everything is altered, the car is gutted, tens of thousands of dollars on mods, blower maxed out to the end of it's life...but it's the stock blower. And then someone else will claim, fastest ZL1 on stock pistons. And someone else will claim fastest ZL1 on stock crank. Fastest Zl1 with stock door handles, lol!! Just joking and exaggerating a bit. I'm not taking anything away from this accomplishment. But these days it kinda seems like everyone is trying to grab whatever might get them some attention. |

Exactly...the micro record stuff is getting out of hand. On a street car for street use I would much rather have a 2650 and that is coming from somebody that has data logged and tuned 3 different superchargers(ported LT4, 2300, 2650r) on the same C7Z. It's worth it for the cooling capacity and more linear power curve alone. The LT4 when over driven just smacks the tires with way too much torque. The 2650 hits a bit softer and pulls much stronger up top. Don't get me wrong the little 1.74 is a good unit for those that are staying around stock boost levels but it's not worth putting any money into.

I agree 100% and am willing to pay them to make mine faster using current power.

Agreed. I have no problem shelling out good money for my toys. I am currently modding 4 of my 6 vehicles...2 of which are motorcycles. My ZL1 is getting a cam, ported heads, blower swap, etc. My Hellcat is going in for round 2 of mods over what it has now. My Busa right now is getting bolt-ons but I'm springing for a turbo kit. My H2-SX is getting full mods plus a $3K intercooler setup. trust me, I know how much it costs to "play". And I play as hard as I can. But at no point did I suggest that you don't have to pay. I simply said the stock blower is not worth dumping money into for most street driven cars due to the inefficiency of it. You will come across cooling issues. Even if you don't, swapping out to a bigger blower will make for a more efficient power gain and delivery. I mean, I'm not knocking anyone for whatever route they choose to go with. But for my car which will see DD use in the NorthEast where we get temp extremes, it is better for me to spend the extra money and do everything at once and have peace of mind on 93 octane. |
