Looks like I need to plan on replacing the tires before winter when I get mine...We have a good 2-3 months of days that could be 40 or lower. I doubt I'll ever track the car...so maybe selling is the way to go. I'll most likely get a used ZL1 anyway...so hopefully it won't be an issue with just replacing the factory rubber with something a bit less crazy.

I just bought Bridgestone potenza UHP all seasons 295/30/20 and 305/30/20 because I hear they perform pretty well in cold temps and rain. I won’t be driving in the snow so.

I have a set of Conti's on my SCAT pack charger and they are pretty good. Last much longer than OEM (9k if you believe that crap). I'll probably go with a set of those. |

Exactly what I did with mine, pulled the GYs off and put the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS on. Upsized the fronts from the 285/30/20 to 295/30/20. With the rears there were only 5 of the 305/30/20s available in the country at the time. Got lucky...might be a problem when I need to replace them, but at least that will be a while. |

So I got those Continental’s on today & wow, what a difference in this weather. It’s mid 30’s & raining today & I had much better grip than the 3R’s did even in the dry with these temps.

The Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires are comparable with the Michelins and are a little cheaper. I had a set put on my 2016 2SS around 6 months before I got rid of it for the used ZL1 and was really satisfied with the ride and handling of the Continentals. I was planning on a set of them back in April to replace the GYs on the ZL1 but couldn’t get a complete set so I went back to the GYs due to the availability and cost. The local Chevy dealership gave me a good price on them and alignment included. The Continentals have a very good treadwear rating which I believe is over 300 so they will last longer.

I still have the 3R's on and yes, when it's below 50 out there is a noticeable loss in traction, but when the tires warm up after 10 minutes of driving, they're vastly better.
