A10 issue 2021 ZL1

Car has 584 miles 2021 non-1LE. Yes it still has full warranty since I JUST got it exactly a month ago. I didn't drive it today so it sat in the garage all day. I decided to go grab dinner in it so I wouldn't lose my parking spot where I had my DD. Drove literally 2 blocks from my appt to pick up my food, got out of the car and left it running, (it was a taco stand and I locked it when I got out) grabbed my food which took all of 1 minute. Got back in the car, put it in reverse and it felt funny for a second, gave it a little gas to back up, and as I let off the gas it felt funny again as if I had put it in neutral. Put it in drive and it went forward and then again felt like it slipped into neutral. Sure enough I get to the light and while stopped I could feel the A10 slip in and out of gear. I could feel it as if I was taking it from neutral to drive. When the light turned green, it just revved and then popped into gear. It did that about every 4 seconds. my heart sank :-( Anyone experience this? No warning lights of any kind. I hit the onstar button since my app isnt showing my car for some reason. They couldn't pull up any diagnostic info. As I sat there with it in drive it kept popping in and out of gear the entire 5-6 minutes I was on the call with them. The diagnostics system from Onstar was just stuck on "LOADING". I hate taking my car to the dealer. Especially the dealer closest to me. They suck. I work in the service dept for a Nissan dealer and I cant stand when they try to BS me around like I don't know what I'm talking about. Thanks for any input.

Bring it straight back to the dealer bud before it becomes a bigger problem.

Did you have a check engine light?

He said no warning lights... Just a guess, but it might be overfilled, I read about somewhat similar problems with overfilled A10s being reluctant to engage specific gears.

I second Camaro1973's suggestion, this car isn't even broken in, you need to find a service department worth your while if the closest one is no good and take the car in before mechanical damage occurs. OnStar not loading is weird, too, mention that and see if there are any software updates that may not be possible OTA.

Sorry to hear this about a brand new Camaro, but hopefully you can get it squared away and start thoroughly enjoying the Z.

fluid level check first...if that doesn't help they will likely drop the pan and see if anything is obvious there. If no warning lights as indicated, they will likely change the filter & fluid and try again. Of course they will check for any software issues also.

Sucks to have that happen on a new car but occasionally defects happen. My 2021 has been fine for for the first 1700 miles so far.

Video it happening.

Everyone knows 90% of the time the minute you pull into the lot the cars magically fix themselves & the dealer can never replicate it so they don’t do anything about it.

Same for a TV back in the day when they did a service call.

Yeah that was the first thing I did. Hoping it's still there when I take it in. Will have to be towed.

It's on the way to the selling dealer. The other dealers close to me in town are booked out till almost the end of Jan for the Corvette/ZL1 techs to diagnose. I had the dealer cover the extra cost for overage on the towing mileage. That made me feel good that they covered that for me since they're 42 miles away. When I went to meet the flat bed and started the car, check engine light was on now, so at least we have an actual problem and I won't look like a crazy person. Advisor said they will try to expedite it and try to at least diagnose it by EOD tomorrow. I will keep ya'll posted on the results. Hoping it's a simple fix...

The only way to check the fluid level in the A10 and the A8 trans is getting the trans to a specific temp range, lifting up the car (level) then taking off a plug (I guess it's an overfill plug) and letting out drain until it stops.

No dipstick just this weird method to check your trans fluid level.

Hopefully that's all it is.

Maybe it’s my eyes, or because the car is leaning backwards, but it looks like the nose of the car is a bit high... Do you know if the spring spacers were removed before you received the car? Or, did the flatbed driver install before loading?

Good luck with the repair, hopefully it’s something simple.

Speaking of the weird method. GM paid for my college education and when we were in to transmissions we were told that the dipstick was the biggest contributor to contaminants.
Now I know most folks don’t check their transmission fluid and don’t know how so I always thought it was a crock of shit. I personally believe they do it so you HAVE to take it in unless you are capable of checking on your own.
