Wish I would have re-read this post first as I tried to remover the shroud without removing the hood latch. Anyway try to expand on what FoundNemo said.

Step 1) Remove hood latch and let hang (2 arrows). I used a 13MM ratcheting wrench and it worked well.

Step 2) Remove the circled 10mm bolts, torx bolts, and plastic clips.

Step 3) Remove shroud. It comes off pretty easy with a little bit of lifting on the front bumper.

Step 4) Remove 3 plastic clips that hold the plastic ‘blocker’ in place.

This was the most annoying part of the whole thing. After using every pry tool and flat head I had I removed the top clip and middle right clip, but it seemed to take forever. After messing around with the bottom clip for too long, I just stuck some big scissors down there and cut it.

Here are some pictures that hopefully make this make more sense.
Done!

Thanks so much for the instructions on the pictures, it made things quite easy

Anyone seeing particulate (or oil) get past the green filter and into your intake?

Your hear all these horror stories about driving in a desert with an oiled performance filer

I'm curious. Has anyone yanked out the intake duct that connects to the lower part of the airbox? Looks like that would open things up a bit, but I'm not sure about change in intake air temperature. Thanks.

I did not yank out the intake duct, however, I did play around with cutting out a section of the lower air box.

Can't say I could tell much of a difference other than the blower whine seemed a bit more pronounced and intake air temps would climb a little higher at a stoplight. The temps would quickly return to a few degrees above ambient once my car started moving.

I bought the 1LE canards and vents. So I guess when I pull the bumper I'll do this also.... I got to learn how to pull the bumper properly...

Removed mine this weekend. Will see if there is benefit on the track. I think there is less "stuff" in the way but no ram effect that I can see. Could be better at reducing negative air pressures and turbulence or flowing air out through the hood to keep the engine cooler. Probably the original purpose was to provide a breathing hole if snow started to cake inside the grill.

Reporting back, had about 8 mph better on the back straight at COTA hitting 151.8 per Cosworth. Could be this mod, temps, or adjustment of boost bypass valve (very slight adjustment).

Boost was 12.2psi plus vs previous in the 11.3psi range max.

Car was awesome as usual. Love the stock brake pads and Goodyears.

That's awesome - difference in ambient temps?

I remembered seeing this thread when I was reading up in the forums after ordering my 22 zl1. I was going to just remove the blocker on mine, since this car will only be driven in clear weather, and we don't get snow here either. However, if I'm going to go to the trouble of removing the blocker, is it also a good time to add the velossa tech ram air thing? I have a feeling this is snake oil, but it's not super expensive, and it should bring more air directly into the intake. Anyone running one of these?

You are making an intake hole bigger and wider, and forcing air into it as you drive. I don't see how it couldn't help things lol. I had one on my last car, I'm a huge supporter of them, but no backed up data.

Has anyone that had an open element cold air kit ever cut a hole in the black piece that is under the hood. Cut the hole right above the air box?
