You want occasional bursts of throttle in lower gears to seat the rings right away (just don't overheat it, cooler weather is better) - this is well documented and my own experience with probably 30 engines bears this out. Freeway droning is a horrible idea for break in, I've actually seen engines use excessive oil as a direct result

Thanks for the tip. I called and those are real numbers and pretty good numbers in todays market. Have been waiting over 24 hrs for a call back from the person who orders these cars to see if those type of discounts would apply on a ordered car.

Well, I got a 400 mile drive home. Bursts of speed sound good, I like that!! That will happen by my habit. It's my nature to drive a little aggressively. I plan to take it easy in all actuality. I'll stop and let the engine cool off. However, there is 3 seasons here in Thailand, hot, hotter, and freaking blazing. It's almost December and it was hot today.

I'll be ordering that MM catch can here in a few more days. so I can get that on as soon as I'm home. I'm ceramic coating it before I ever even drive it. It will be at the dealership for a few days while I get her ready, rock guards, ceramic coating, canards, order and get in line for the 1LE Spoiler from Andersons, etc. Then I have to get her her container garage. Then just before I return home, I'll take the car to Soi Cowboy (google that and click images) for a photo shoot with some ladies. I got stuff to do....

Once my 2021 ZL-1 is built, I'm trading in my 2017 HBM ZL-1. Thanks to this discussion, I see that my 17 is worth more on KBB, so I know to expect a bit more trade value for it. I'm just under 34k miles at three and a half years owning it. I love Camaro6!

If you can do it, also get the car paint corrected and wrapped before you drive 400 miles and pick up a set of rock chips. Ceramic coating is great, but not against hard flying objects, and rock guards won't be 100% effective.

I wouldn't redline the engine during those acceleration bursts, just do some short WOT bursts from low rpms up to 4k and let it die down back to 1-1.5k a few times. This is actually how I broke my LT1 in, it makes good power now and consumes practically zero oil.

Sure thing. I would bet that’s on their stock only, not orders, but who knows.

For what I paid they are a decent deal. Not sure if they have PDR at that MSRP. I don’t care for black. Like the looks, but I’m waaaay to anal. Blue was my second color choice.

Most also seem to have the battery protection option up here.

Bought my '18 2 months ago with just under 10k on it. I bought it as a Chevy Certified vehicle. It is an extra car for me so I know I will only put a couple thousand miles a year on it. I think as long as the mileage is consistent with the age of the car or a little under, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

Can't do that here that i know of(Paint Correction), and in fact, I'm graphene ceramic coating it myself, without the proper applicator. I wrote Adams last night and I want to see if they have bastardized suggestions. All the body work should happen before I drive 1 Km (hopefully). Also, what you're suggestion is the plan. I probably wont take it much over 3500 actually. But i have to admit. I'm extremely excited for this first drive through Thailand with the AMERICAN THUNDER.... Hell Yeah

Even if oil pump failures only occur with a small percentage of 17's and 18's, I wouldn't touch them. Once you're out of warranty it will happen, that's just how it usually works - and if it's truly a design flaw it's probably just a matter of time/mileage. Once the Camaro ZL1 is officially retired by GM (which is coming soon) I guarantee no one (in the know) will be looking for 17s and 18s

I bought my ZL1 out of state (I was able to get under MSRP even back then, I know, a different market) and drove it 700 miles back home. I put racers tape on the front and leading edges before I could get it home for the trip. Drove it from the dealer lot, stopped in a parking lot, and applied blue tape to my Hyper Blue car. No chips from the trip.

I had paint correction (can do yourself), which it needed from the factory, and then had ceramic coating done, but I also added Xpel on the surfaces likely to get stone chips. The car is still in great shape, three years later. It is good that you are adding a Ceramic coating. The GM paint isn't all that robust. Pretty easy to get swirls and micro scratches otherwise. Also pretty easy to chip, which is why I also added xpel. Make sure to apply ceramic coating to the carbon fiber. I have read that that is particularly susceptible to small scratches.

Thank God I got a `19. because I had no idea about this. I wasn't in the know. And there is a total of Zero Chevrolet Mechanics over here that have worked on an LT4..... Maybe somebody would buy one if the seller can show that the pump had been replaced. If there are any issues with the 19, I hope I find out before I hit the road. 1 thing I will do after about 500 miles..... as soon as I get her through the break in drive home.... MM Catch Can. What is Number 2?

I didn't buy their hype, or advertising. I know a person personally that installed their smaller can on a newer ZL1 that had 1,500 miles on it and when they lifted the lid to begin the install, oil was already forming. So when they lifted the lid to check a few years later (which is now), nada. They told me it's working as intended, performing very well, and not a trace of oil anywhere inside the intake. And since they aren't "bought" by MM, they have no reason to lie to me. In fact, if it wasn't performing well, They'd likely be pissed and steer me away. So I'm already sold on their product. Furthermore, somebody here on this forum told me Vengeance racing is using it and according them, Vengeance is using because their data showed that it worked best in their applications. So, I'm not buying MM hype. It's actually pretty expensive. But I like their design. That;s why I'm going with them.
