Crap $18,000 for 100 hp?

Callaway Cars for just $18,395 on top of the ZL1’s sticker of $63,435. Putting the package at $81,830

Put headers, free flow exhaust, E85, tune, and roto fab big gulp on for under 5K and you would rival that Callaway build.

Throw in a cam and heads package for 6 K and change pulley and you will destroy the Callaway and walk away with 7 grand in your pocket.

I guess some people want off the shelf products ready to go with know thought of savings or care about it.

Yeah, but you can't do all that to your car and keep the factory warranty. That's what Callaway is offering. I'd also bet Callaway adds that power with better reliability than most could with your list of mods, otherwise GM wouldn't be on board with retaining the factory warranty.

Some people want the added power without the risk of things going wrong and the car turning into a money pit with crappy resale value.

Emissions requirements are important to those who live where it is required.
100 horsepower is 100 horsepower more than Chevy offers and maintains
a 3 year/36k mile warranty along with a huge increase in torque. Gotta pay to play, still a better deal than the GT 500.

Agreed that the name brand packages can be spendy but some include a drivetrain warranty that appeals to their customers. We’ve all seen the occasional thread where the “roll your own” package made great power right up to the point that it failed due to a bad tune or because the components weren’t well matched. Building the engine twice didn’t turn out to save them much money. Some like the brand name and hope it adds to the collectibility down the road. To each their own.

Everyone makes good points and valid concerns. Choosing a good shop that does work is not hard to find. Most good shops stand behind there work for the sake of their own business.

Yeah, but still... $18K for 100HP. I spent about the same for 1000 more HP and my shop will replace anything that messes up as long as they purchase and install it for 3 years/36k miles. They are very good and very confident for good reason though. Plus the products came with a warranty. But to each their own!

I think it’s a good deal for people that want to buy a modified ZL1 with a warranty offered at additional cost by Callaway!

Their standard warranty doesn't cost extra. 3/36 is included...but 5 years is extra.

Have no idea.

Don’t care.

It’s simply unacceptable.
