Spring height for Pre April 2017 production ZL1's
Been lurking for a while now and finally picked up an early 2017 production ZL1. I did some searching on here and got a lot of pics that really didn't help with being sure and a lot of "approximate" numbers.
What I really want to know is, what are people's actual measurement before and after the updated springs. The front of my car comes in at 28" from the ground to fender when measured through the center line of the wheel. Also yes the shipping pucks are not on the car. Near as I can tell this is the non updated spring height, and simply by looking at the car the front has more fender gap. I was hoping some of the people out there who have actually done the swap could measure theirs so I can compare. |

My 2017 was built April 10, 2017 and was wondering if mine has the updated springs.

My 2019 from a quick 20 second measure is about 5.5 inch from the ground to bottom of splitter, and about 27.5 inches from bottom middle of front wheel to bottom of the wheel well.

Thanks! So at the moment it appears as if there is 1/2" difference in the front. I just decided to check the rear of my car and it sits 1/4" lower in the back, so this pretty much confirms I do not have the updated springs. Still hoping to see if anyone with a 17 who actually changed to the updated springs can chime in and confirm this is the same height as the later cars. |

The front fender height from the ground to bottom of the fender on my ZL1 went from approximately 28 1/2 inches to 28 inches. The top photo is with the factory springs. The second photo is the updated springs installed in August 2017. If you fender height is a 28 inches, I would say you car has the updated front springs.

I might go remeasure. But height could also be affected by tires slightly too...

Thanks for all the replies lol man this is why I made a post about it, seems like there is no good way to tell if the springs have been swapped or not. |

I’m thinking that the original owner of my ZL1 might have had lowering springs installed because the rear seems to be lower than the other ZL1s I have seen especially the 2019s and 2020s. He put less than 450 miles on the car in 2 years so I could be wrong as everything about it was stock.

The dealer should be able to tell you if they've been swapped as well. When I took mine in last year, they knew mine hadn't been changed yet and also took care of a couple additional bulletins while it was there.

Pressure can have a significant affect on height. I know this well because over last 6 years I've parked 2 track cars on a Bendpack LR-60 lift and when pressures are set at 30 PSI returning from track vs. 35 from street, makes a big difference in the gap available to place the lift pads.

I checked with h the local Chevy dealership and there was no record of the spring change but the other TSB bulletins were done. Guess my ZL1 has the correct springs. I did try to get the original owners name when I bought it so I could ask if he had replaced the springs and etc about the car during the 2 years he owned it but the salesman told me he couldn’t get in touch with him.
