mix matching exhaust components and fitment
Has anyone tried using a different brand x-pipe with other exhaust components made by different companies? I have 2" Kooks headers, cat delete pipes to factory x pipe, and to AWE touring exhaust. I'm thinking about a x pipe and maybe resonators to help quiet it down some. I see borla makes resonators to fit in the x-pipe. Will their x pipe work with Kooks and AWE?

Someone on here put AWE resonators to go with his headers and bola s-type. He was very happy with how it worked out for him in quieting down his setup. I know you're trying to do the reverse as far as manufacturer, but hopefully that provides some encouragement that it can work.

You can also add the AWE Resonated midpipes to go with your AWE mufflers too.

I don't have headers, but I do have a Borla secondary cat delete x-pipe, Borla resonator, and a Kooks axle back.

I did the AwE midpipes and resonators (stock headers and all 4 cats) to to quiet down the AWE touring axleback (hella loud) and to get rid of the OEM squashed pipes. I have been very pleased.
First few days with the resonators and it WAY quieter. I thought at first that it would be too quiet. But after a coupe of track days the resonators “burned in” and most of the sound returned. It’s just slightly quieter than the touring axleback. It literally just takes the edge off the exhaust note. It’s perfect for me now. |

The Awe Touring is pretty aggressive but I think most would says it's not over the top loud. With headers and no cats it's going to be aggressive. Even the stock exhaust is pretty aggressive without cats. You should be able to bolt up just about any Xpipe but there might be some welding involved. I try to warn people that if you have an xpipe that is meant to delete the rear cats it will overlap the connection pipe from the headers. So you will need to cut and weld which can be very difficult (304 stainless doesn't like to be cut). It helps if you buy an Xpipe designed to work with the axleback you have or the headers. |

Are you using the AWE touring resonated or non-resonated exhaust? I'm going with Kooks headers, green cats and AWE resonated touring exhaust on mine. Having no cats will certainly make it very loud. |

I will mention from personal experience that the Corsa X-pipe and AWE track edition axle back is a big recipe for drone just over 2K rpm.

Track edition is no muffler...so no surprise on drone. Lol. The Touring system has noise canceling mufflers that will prevent drone.
