Congrats on the pick up man! I traded my 2015 C7 Z51 for my 2017 1LE and definitely have no regrets. Enjoy it!

he said the handling on the ss1le is better but the 350R is just more a pure power car and will be worth more in the longrun that motor even in stock form sounds crazy on track!

Assuming you got to ride in it, maybe drive it? Curious on your thoughts.

Hard to beat the Voodoo on track, that engine was made for that and really shines in that environment. I dont blame him one bit for that switch, and I love the R stripes especially on that Lead Foot Grey(I think that is what its called).

that is a descent time considering the car and the Hp. SS 1Le does almost the same time at that track. My friend with a Zl1 1le does 1:46. I do 1:50's with 380 hp GT4.

The R is a really cool car, it was a no go for me because the GT350/1LE is just way more practical when I use it as a daily (R has no backseat, stiffer suspension, and the CF wheels would be a big concern with CT roads/pot holes). If you take off the CF wheels and then add a backseat you basically have a GT350. Very few differences after that.
In terms of collectability, I think that's an unknown especially if you do drive the car and track it. I suspect there are fewer ZL1/ZLE's produced than GT350/R. And from a price point the GT350/R competes more with the ZL1/ZLE when buying new not really as SS1LE, which is a good $15-18K+ cheaper. But it has the Shelby name which helps. The Voodoo is a blessing and a curse. It remains to be seen what happens with resale when the engine warranty is up and if Ford continues to struggle with catastrophic engine failures. |
