I ordered a 21 Wild Cherry ZL1 1LE in July and it arrived a week ago. One problem... it got wrecked in transit. The entire passenger side and nose is jacked up... So the dealership just placed another order for me yesterday.

They were able to give me an order number immediately. They have allocation so depending on constraints it could be accepted by production this week. After order acceptance you will get a build week. Mine was August 8th for the damaged car that just arrived.

If your dealer has no Camaro allocation your order will sit in the order bank until that dealer has allocation for a Camaro.

I should mention the dealer might not know this as OEM's don't broadcast this to the dealers until the shutdowns get really bad. So your salesman really probably doesn't know, at least if this is what is affecting your build.

I ordered my 2010 2SS in May 2009. Mine was 3rd allocation of the dealer's 5. For a month I asked the dealer about progress. Could never tell me jack. From searching for info on the ole interweb is how I found camaro5, and thus, all the info. So I started telling the dealer the progress. When it shipped I told them next day to look out the window, the truck should be there in about 2 hours. It was. Fast forward 18 months and the dealer goes under. So yeah, I think they were just lazy, as a lot of them are.

If you want to PM me the dealer that you used, I might be able to tell you whether they're any good or not as I have experience with a few different ones in CT specifically.

ordering

I put my order in on August 27th and just was told yesterday that it was finally accepted for production...my dealer said sometimes it could be 10-12 weeks before ordering and getting the car....sometimes its good to wait, because oct-nov-dec is the dealers best months where they have to meet quota...Also, the day it arrives there could be a rebate offered closer to the holidays....hope that helps...

And will that order get processed or does it sit until they have a location?
Sits till the dealer gets there allocation

That is gone now because of Covid and the parts and inventory shortage. It's mostly because GM knows that there are dealers that would abuse the system and input fake sold orders just to get inventory.
While I understand the shortages, isn't this a bit absurd? From GM's perspective, isn't a sold order a sold order, whether or not the car is going to sit on a dealer lot? GM wants to produce vehicles to sell them, and they still get paid no matter what... am I missing something?
