Dude, what is your ****ing problem?

The original pads were my fault. I should have realized the large price discrepancy. Otherwise, there was no indication they were not up to the task and now after removing them and seeing very little if any wear coupled with the car stopping just fine from 140 over and over, I'm thinking the flagger was full of shit and if anything saw some sparks from further bedding. The only way I would know differently is if I had a GoPro pointed at my wheels.

I did call Brembo and explained my situation before ordering them through them and they explained they are EXACTLY the same as the Brembo/Ferodo pads that are installed at the factory. They are slightly cheaper ordering directly through them as they have eliminated one person in the chain.

They were probably legit flames, not just sparks. It's just that it doesn't mean there's a problem. They'll go out as soon as you let off the pedal and keep rolling. Check out this video of a guy bedding in his brakes. You see literal flames. He makes the mistake of full stopping at the end of his last braking event, whereas he should have kept on rolling and gotten off the brakes and let them cool a bit first. But in any case, before that last one you see flames that go out as soon as he gets off the brakes again. No big deal.

The two big problems with brakes on a track are if you exceed the temp where the pads have their best friction, and if you boil the fluid. The latter is obvious and you get a soft pedal. With the former, if you keep driving all-out you'll keep needing more and more pedal pressure to slow down, which just compounds the overheating problem and you eventually lose braking effectively. But the point here is not to worry about what they look like, but rather pay attention to how they feel.

Awesome advice. The brakes did feel and operate just as good as the original Brembo/Ferodo pads, I just erred on the side of caution because of the flames comment. I've bedded well over 1,000 sets of pads in my life for my customers normal street cars which always smoke and smell until cooled, but maybe 20 sets of high performance pads which obviously need quite a bit more heat put into them to be optimal.

Fluid BTW was fresh Motul RBF600 so that obviously held up well to the excessive heat as the pedal was great.

brembo low met brake pads which is what the OP ordered from brembo just came available last year to the U.S. if I'm not mistaken. As I read it, these are a oe replacement pad. Curious to see how they compare to the ac delco/brembo pads. Not much info on the forums I could find anways on how good they really are or not. But if they are equal to the OEM pads, it would save you guys that track your cars some $$$.

Rockauto is the cheapest I've found otherwise, part number 1711040 for $232.89. The picture shows these as the Brembo/Ferodo pad.

Dude, relax.

I came to my conclusion after you assumed it was an ACDelco part issue instead of an incorrect part issue. At no point did you acknowledge it. I didn’t belittle you for your mistake, just made an observation.

A little info I also found on the brembo pad/rotor options.

Would love to see if the brembo pads have the same Ferodo markings as the OE ones. If so, that's a steal.

Hmmm. I got a fire started in an 02 camaro I was pushing pretty hard and ended up basically burning the car up, starting somewhere in the brake area.
The only sunny side of the story was being able to reuse the engine and parting out the car ended up being way more valuable then the car actually was and the 416 dropped right into an 04 Z06.

Damn scary at the time though!
