Power Stop Brakes

Has anyone put this Power Stop Brake kit on their 2SS? I think I've finally had enough of all the brake dust and according to some youtube videos I've watched these seem to be a great upgrade. Ya... I probably don't need the nicer rotors, but it won't hurt either.

You just need the pads unless your rotors are already worn out

I run Powerstop pads with stock rotors, brake dust is greatly eliminated, I don’t think they grab quite as well as the stock pads though

Cool, good to know the brake dust is far less... No I don't believe my rotors are wore out. I have 40k miles on them, so I'd probably want to get them turned, but I'm not a fan of turning rotors.

Yes, I have the slotted, drilled rotors with the ceramic pads. Brake dust is gone I changed mine at 50k miles and chose not to turn mine either. Personnel preference I guess.

FYI - If you drive hard, you're not going to like the Z26 pads. Lots of folks on here switched back to OEM pads. Me included.

That is good to know because yes... I do drive hard. I have black wheels so the brake dust isn't as noticeable, but I am cleaning my wheels a lot.

The lack of brake dust is a good trade off for mildly aggressive street use but you will feel the difference if you stand on the brakes or give them hard use. I only used the Z26 pads no rotors etc etc

I switched pads at only a few hundred miles and 20k later still love them. Yes, if you drive REALLY hard you will notice a difference but the trade-off was acceptable for me.

My opinion... The OEM pads, while dusty, will perform the best. Brake dust can be annoying, but if you want performance you will have to deal with it.

On a few cars, I have swapped OEM pads due to dust to a few different semi-metallic and ceramic setups, with none ever performing as good as the factory pads. Loss of bite cold, longer stop times and some noise/squeal.

I highly doubt a pad exists that is low or no dust that will work as good as what you have stock. So if you are OK with less braking power at the expense of less dust, that is a choice you need to make of course. You won't find one that performs equal or better, though.

Put a coating on your wheels so you can just hit them with the hose to get the bulk of the dust off.

The brakes on this car feel great and work quite well - not interested in tinkering with that formula.

Agreed.

If you ever watch a pit stop on something like a NASCAR race, pay attention to how much dust flies out of the wheel when they remove it. There's a relationship between stopping power and how much dust you're going to get.

Do you put a coating on your wheels? What did you use?

A lot of great feedback guys... Thanks. I think for now I'm just going to leave well enough alone, because I do drive my car hard (or at least I think I do :-)). So I think I'll live with the dust for the performance.

I haven't yet. I've been washing the wheels really well with a brush every other wash and it's been fine overall. Once I have the time to either take the wheels completely off or get a second set, I'll start to experiment with coatings.

I tried Reload on my car and it's "ok." I could use it on the wheels as well, but I'm not sure yet.
