New Lt1 crate or Texas Speed fbe long block?

Hey Guys, I'm new here checking out the great FI builds and doing research for my build. 13 yr member of Performancetrucks.net. but they are mostly LS so I'm reaching out to y'all. I've pretty much decided not to do a fbe 5.3 with my Trick twins and just move up to a 6.2 or 416 on lower boost.

Looking for high 10 ETs with a 5100 race weight. I'm thinking 800 wheel. A GM LT1 crate sure would be nice with proper fueling but just not sure if it would handle the boost well enough. I know I'd have to gap rings at least. Or just bite the cost and do a Texas Speed short or long block. Appreciate your input. Thoughts Gentlemen?

bite the cost and get a forged shortblock from TSP.

or find a lt4 short block

or find an lt1 short block and put drop in rods/pistons.

Thanks for your reply. Reason I thought of a crate is because I've got to have heads and intake tb and a lot of other stuff that adds up. Not sure if manifolds are different or would even fit. Is a new Lt4 sb even available? I've seen the Lt5 long block but it's dry sump and not sure what I would need for oiling?

Used LT1's everyone wants 4-7k at least from salvage yards with low mi. Should I try to find an LT1 off of Offer up or similar and do drop ins? Not trying to cheap out but trying to keep it under 20k if possible including the twins. Don't really think it's possible. I'm gonna do this regardless. If I end up spending a fortune it'll need to run high 9's. Rather not. Any ideas are welcome. What would you do? Sell the truck and get a 6th gen lol?

Well, you asked. I would not regularly drag race anything that weighs 5100 lbs! That much weigh just drives go fast costs through the roof.

That power on that Weight will require a really robust foundation.

I would set you up with a TSP 427 LT, TVS 2650 supercharger, XDI fuel system parts and tuning.

Ted.

I hear ya, crazy I know but I remember Choda's turbo truck and of course Parish started this crap originally lol. My daily 07 rear mount ran mid 7's 1/8. I don't abuse but occasionally "use" my rides if given the opportunity. It's mostly going to be a weekend Hellcat killer. Since it's 4wd pretty much anything on the street (in Mexico) can't hang from a dig. My daily worktruck is Whippled and just a lot of fun with a Stock Vette or SS or 5.0. Raceweight is with me btw. I've had 8 Camaro's now I find a truck just fits me.

You're probably dead on with your 800 rwhp guesstimate. if you aren't opposed to using meth, it should be a fairly simple setup. with the mods below + e85, I am over 800 rwhp. factor in that you would be able to run more boost and would have a cam, 800 rwhp will be child's play. just get your blower of choice really

Thank you for the encouragement. I believe I came to the right place for answers on an LT project. My blower of choice is twin turbos so no drive losses at least. Lots of decisions to make but I bought this truck just for this purpose so it will happen hopefully this winter. Busy in the AC business right now to pay for this.

This is some really good advice. You'll possibly break ring lands on the stock LT1.

Bypass? I'm doing twin turbos is it for that? I like Crawford Racing a lot.
