I'm installing the Speed Engineering 1 7/8" long tubes and 3" catless exhaust on my 20 SS next weekend...we installed the same setup on a friend's 19 SS 2 weeks ago and it frankly was one of the easiest header installs I've ever done. Can't beat the price of them and they fit PERFECTLY.

the SE x and midpipe leave some to be desired, but nothing a little tweaking and cutting couldn’t handle.

I had kooks 2in without issues
I also had OBX (yeah ebay ones) 2in without issues and they actually went in a little easier. I've helped install Speed Engineering and they were fine too.

I have the Kooks 2", no issues at all, but starter had to come out for installation from the bottom.
I would either go Texas speed 1 7/8 if on a budget or the CSP headers that eliminate any common issues with headers (they were not available when I bought my Kooks). Too many bad reviews on Speed Engineering, I would not buy them. |

I'm waiting on the CSP headers to include cats. Otherwise I'll go with Kooks.

I purchased 2" TSP headers this winter - and for me, I had to dent two tubes on the driver's side in order to not touch the steering shaft (they cleared the bolt head just fine - these are tubes closer to the firewall from there) and think the way they connect to the off-road pipes with the ball / socket / radius clamps is absolute garbage (the clamps bottom out on each other and dont create much of a seal).
Im about ready to cut off the radius part on the end of the collector and have a piece of strait 3" welded in, kind of how the SW headers are. That or I am going to weld in spring tabs and use springs kind of like a snowmobile / dirt bike exhaust. I would say the Speed Engineering headers are no worse than the TSP ones and may have a better collector connection. At least the money you save on the headers you can use at the exhaust shop. I ended up spending a lot of time and money on the TSP headers getting them to function somewhat decent - wish I would have bought stainless works |

Why are 2 inch headers so popular? 1 7/8 headers are fine for most applications. Speed Engineering headers have been here for a long time with great reviews. If your cracking 3 sets of headers I'm thinking it's the installer not the product.

Guys, keep Dynatech in mind too. American made in Indiana! Very nice quality and the pricing is more competitive than Kooks/ARH too.

Weirdly I had Kooks and OBX (which is likely from the same factory as Speed Engineering) headers on my 1LE and the Kooks gave me more issues with the install *shrug*

I bought a used set of kooks headers and I’m in need of the replacement bolt for the steering shaft clearance. Where could I get one? 2016 Camaro SS
